Electronic Arts published today a new trailer of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, that will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on February the 7th in the US and on the 10th in Europe.
The trailer focuses on the world of Amalur, and on the reasons for the player to venture away from the path drawn by the main storyline in order to find secrets, quests and treasure.
You can check out the video beyond the cut. Continue Reading.

Okay, so the PS3/PS Vita console exclusive characters for Street Fighter X Tekken look like complete and utter garbage (excluding Cole). Kuro , Toro, Pac-man/Mokujin and a full grown man in a Mega Man costume simply aren’t good enough reasons for 360 gamers to be salty. Speaking of a full grown man in a Mega Man costume, a fan asked producer Yoshinori Ono via Twitter why this iteration of Mega Man was chosen over one of his…um…less repulsive designs. The answer is more interesting than you might have thought. Continue Reading.

European publisher Zen United has been kind enough to bless eager fans with the official trailer for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend. This action packed trailer will melt your face off if you aren’t careful. The new anime cinematics look absolutely amazing and that music is insane. Newcomer Relius Clover gets some shine, although I’m growing genuinely concerned at this point that he really will be the only new character in Extend.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m hyped about Relius. That puppet looks awesome and I’m thrilled about the prospect of being able to use a character similar to Carl without having to hear that bratty, irritating voice. But if he is going to be the only new addition to the roster, then I see no reason he simply wasn’t released as DLC just like Makoto and the gang. Oh well, I was going to buy the game anyway for the team battles. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend will be available in North America on February 14th for the PS Vita and then later for HD consoles. The trailer can be viewed after the break. Continue Reading.
Edmund McMillen has spilled the beans to VG24/7 on the retail edition of The Binding of Isaac. Unfortunately it will not come with the “Wrath of the Lamb” Expansion, as the retail edition is being printed right now and the expansion isn’t ready yet. Called the “Unholy Edition”, the boxed version will come with a DRM free version of the game, a Steam gift key, poster, full soundtrack, a 40 page art book and in his own words (which are true), “sweet packaging.”
The retail version will be released on March 16th through Merge Games and unfortunately will not be released in America. So I guess I’ll be ordering mine online.
Have you ever been absolutely terrified of something you wanted so badly?
The Sweet Tooth-adorned PS3 you see above is yours if and only if you best a number of other folks at a Twisted Metal tournament next Thursday, Feb. 2 in San Francisco. Sony announced via the PlayStation Blog that the event will be hosted at Mezzanine and starts at 6 p.m. Word on the street is that David Scott Jaffe, the big man himself, will be at the tournament keeping an eye on the action. Call him Calypso, if you will.
In addition to the custom PS3 offered to the tournament’s winner, attendees will receive all sorts of Twisted Metal swag just for attending. The event’s official Facebook page has even more details. And, yes, as with most events of this nature, showing up early may be a good idea.
So far, the Mass Effect: Invasion arc has been top notch. By not focusing on a major character, Mac Walters was really able to flesh out the Mass Effect universe a bit more. Aria has been a likeable protagonist, but she has an excellent foil in her honorable nemesis, General Petrovsky. While issue three was good, it was still a bridge issue. Issue 4 is the final issue of the arc, and it finishes the series off rather appropriately. Continue Reading.

Nintendo’s investors’ briefing wasn’t all fun, games and reveals. The House of Mario disclosed earlier that it’s sitting on a projected loss of about $837 million for the fiscal year, which ends March 31. Why, by the end of the 2011 calendar year, The Big N had already accumulated a $623 million loss. While its latest handheld sold more than 4 million units in Japan alone last year, a 30 percent price cut made it unprofitable for much of its initial run. Continue Reading.

Next week’s batch of downloadable songs for Harmonix’s Rock Band hold special places in my heart. I remember a friend in high school who refused to listen to Tears for Fears because his parents told him the band provided the soundtrack to his conception. Around the same time, I discovered Sum 41 and felt totally justified in all the teen angst I felt toward girls and parents and, for maybe ten seconds, thought it’d be really cool to be Canadian.
Well, those who entered the most awkward years of their lives circa 2001 can relive similar memories when “Fat Lip” and “Still Waiting” by Sum 41 and “Head Over Heels” by Tears for Fears arrive via the Rock Band Network Jan. 31. ”Fat Lip” will support Pro Guitar and Bass modes for 99 cents more and “Head Over Heels” will support keyboard functions. It’s hard to believe it was just a year ago we all first got our hands on Magicka and started immediately “accidentally” killing our friends in the crazy spell casting co-op game that’s more competitive than co-operative. To celebrate the game’s first birthday, Paradox Interactive and Arrowhead Game Studios are releasing a new spell to everybody for the awesome price of totally free: Confuse.
In addition they’ve announced the next expansion to the game, titled “The Other Side of the Coin”. In true Magicka fashion this DLC is completely out of nowhere and makes no logical sense, which is always fun. In this latest addition players will be trading the robes and wizard hats for some black capes and high collars as they play as “Alucart the Vampire”, who is probably totally not a vampire. You can read more about The Other Side of the Coin here.
The core game has sold more than 1.3 Million copies to date, with the Magicka: Vietnam expansion selling over 500,000 and the other DLC selling over four million combined.

Namco Bandai Partners Europe released today a new batch of screenshots of the upcoming shooter Inversion, that will hit the shelves this spring for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

It’s ShockCast time! This week’s episode is all about the latest rumors surrounding both Nintendo’s and Microsoft’s next gen machines. According to “sources”, all the rumors have the upcoming consoles being ” ___ times more powerful”, and well… we’re taking the time to call B.S. on all of these claims.
For our second topic we discuss game ports, both the good and the terrible ones out there — but mostly the terrible. To finish it all up we ramble off the highlights from the week in news. All in all, another great show. Make sure to give it a listen! Continue Reading.

XSEED Games released today an interesting view on the backstory of the artsy PS Vita platformer Sumioni: Demon Arts, that has been released in Japan a couple days ago and will reach the western shores this spring.
In addition to that, they also published a pair of new screenshots of the gameplay and some lovely artwork from the prologue of the game. Head past the cut to see them and read about the story of this little gem. Continue Reading.
Many of you have been waiting patiently for a long time, and I can proudly say now that the wait is over as the Closed Beta for Gotham City Impostors has officially begun. Invites were sent out yesterday, so check your email to see if you managed to score a code.
If you did just follow the instructions in the email and start blasting those Bats or Jokers to your heart’s content. The beta will run from now until Monday, February 6th so that gives you plenty of time to destroy.

The lack of a memory card in the box of the PS Vita definitely ruffled some feathers, but Sony apparently decided to throw potential customers a bone with a new launch bundle for the 3G/Wi-Fi model that comes with $55 of bonus content, including the much coveted memory card.
The bundle, that is already available for preorder on Amazon (that will upgrade all the previous preorders of the 3G/Wi-Fi model to this bundle) still costs $299.99, but it comes with a 3G/Wi-Fi PS Vita, an 8 GB Memory Card, a code to download a free game from the PSN and an AT&T DataConnect Session pass.
You can check out the box past the cut and giggle at the fact that to the left of the sticker that specifies the inclusion of the memory card on the bottom right, there still is the printed warning “Memory Required (Not Included)”. Continue Reading.

Sega released today a new trailer of the upcoming 3DS rhythm game Hatsune Miku And Future Stars: Project Mirai, that will be released on March the 8th in Japan (and probably on the ides of never in the west).
The trailer shows quite a lot of gameplay and, as usual, it features extremely catchy music that you can experience (at your own risk, since it won’t leave your brain alone for a week) past the cut. Continue Reading.

Namco Bandai published today a video showcasing community manager Rich Bantegui as he walks us through the multiplayer mode of the upcoming Armored Core V, that looks definitely interesting and rich in it’s options.
The game will be released in the US on March the 20th and in Europe on March the 23rd for both PS3 and Xbox 360.
As I find myself starving for a good mecha combat game, I have to admit that the video hits all the right spots. You can check it out after the cut. Continue Reading.
More details have emerged on the Nintendo Network, Nintendo’s late-to-the-party networking service that will do for the company what XBox Live and PlayStation Network have done for Microsoft and Sony. During the company’s financial briefing, president Satoru Iwata announced that the network would be made available for Wii U and 3DS users.
The Nintendo Network will provide downloadable content for Wii U and 3DS games, with the company currently researching the move into digital sales of disc and cartridge-based titles. Continue Reading.
And in true Mass Effect style, it looks fantastic. Not only does it introduce you to the way the multiplayer mode is going to look and feel, but it also serves as a preliminary instruction to the races and classes players can choose from before starting a game. Check it out after the cut.
Mass Effect 3 is currently set to release on March 6th in the US, and March 9th in Europe, for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Which just so happens to be the start of midterm week here at Columbia. Looks like my already abysmal study habits will be going down the toilet for awhile. And I highly doubt I’ll be the only one. Continue Reading.
We’re four days away from the release of Final Fantasy XIII-2 here in the west. Square Enix has released yet another gameplay trailer, “Clash of Time,” featuring footage we’ve all seen already.
Think of these trailers as friendly little reminders that yes, the game is happening, and there is nothing you can do about it. I for one am pretty pumped — from playing the demo and reading what Japanese players have said about the game, it sounds like Square Enix has truly listened to player complains about Final Fantasy XIII. Not to mention the soundtrack is rounding out to be pretty freaking gorgeous.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 will grace your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 next week, January 31. See the new trailer after the cut. Continue Reading.
