Yes, you read that right. 2K Games will award $1,000,000 to the first person who throws a verified perfect game in MLB 2K10. The contest is available to XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 players. Competition begins March 2, 2010 at 12:01 AM PST, and ends on May 1, 2010 at 11:59 PM PDT. Gamers must play in the MLB Today mode, choose any available match-up, then choose to compete in the Major League Baseball 2K10 contest. Gameplay must be recorded with a camera or DVR and then submitted via DVD, and it is noted that is the only way they will accept the entry.
“You don’t see too many perfect games thrown in MLB 2K, but we’ve seen it happen,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing at 2K Sports. “Our goal is to celebrate and highlight Major League Baseball 2K10’s superior pitching and hitting mechanics this season, while also giving one of our loyal fans the thrilling opportunity to be rewarded with a lot of money.”
“Every baseball fan knows pitching a perfect game is one of the most difficult and rarest accomplishments in all of sports, and that’s what makes this million dollar contest so compelling,” said Evan Longoria, All-Star third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays and cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K10. “This is the chance of a lifetime, and I’m excited to see fans really try to go for it in Major League Baseball 2K10. I just hope they don’t try against the Rays, because my teammates and I aren’t going to make it easy on them.”
