World of Warcraft Invades Facebook

Today Blizzard launched their official armory app for Facebook users.  Now, as if people didn’t have enough ways to stalk your character(s),  they can see them on Facebook, too!  Hide your daughters!  You can apparently use the app to broadcast real-time data about up to five of your WoW characters to all your Facebook friends.

According to WoW.com, a pop-up window will appear when you sign into the app that will ask for your Battle.net username (e-mail) and password.  While this may sound iffy to some, the domain the pop-up is attached to is an official Blizzard site, so things should be safe.  Although, for some reason, if you have an authenticator attached to your account, it doesn’t ask for the number from that for an extra layer of security.

If you have a lot of friends on Facebook that play WoW and you all keep in contact, it sounds like a pretty neat idea, but it seems to have the possibility to get spammy, especially if it posts everything the full-blown WoW Armory tracks.  But, to each their own, right?  This is just another way Blizzard is using to plot their takeover the the world.  Bow before your new masters!
