Shinji Mikami Speaks about Zenimax Acquisition

We told you last week that Shinji Mikami’s studio Tango Gameworks had been acquired by the big name corporation Zenimax, who also own Bethesda Softworks, creators of the popular Elder Scrolls series. Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu caught up with the legendary Resident Evil creator to get  his reasoning for seeking a business partner:

“We didn’t want to have to live hand-to-mouth as a studio, If we did that, we’d have to take on work we weren’t interested in just to pay the bills. That would then force us to expand our staff, and before you know it, we’d be thinking ‘This isn’t how we meant it to go.’ Playing their stuff, you can really tell that they’re willing to take whatever time is needed to make great games, It shows that their management and financial strength is such that they’re able to let that process happen. That was my first impression, and it was a positive one.”

Furthermore, TG is already working on a new Bethesda game. Perhaps it has something to do with the concept art we spotted yesterday. You can only be excited when you learn that a gaming great is developing. Check out our review of Mikami’s most recent project, Vanquish, here.
