The majority of people I talked to who played FFXIII hated Vanille and I don’t know why. Her accent was cool. Sure, she was a bit childish and at times a bit annoying, but this is a JRPG people, fans of the genre should be used to it by now. There’s no delicate way to put what happened to Vanille at the end of FFXIII without spoiling it, so I will – she got turned into a crystal. Now, we assumed, then, that she wouldn’t be back in the sequel, but her voice actress, Georgia van Cuylenburg, says otherwise on her Twitter.

While she obviously wouldn’t confirm exactly what form Vanille might come back in (flashbacks, decrystalization, zombie, etc.), she did confirm that she was voicing the character in FFXIII-2. “Fraid I’m not allowed to talk about it but it is a very different experience,” she said, when responding to a fan asking if she was working on the character again. So, all you haters out there, step aside – the cute redhead with the pigtails will be seen somehow in FFXIII-2.
