Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 Update Detailed. All standard cars will get an interior view. Coming October 11

by on October 5, 2011 8:15 AM 34

Kazunori Yamauchi gave some details today on his twitter account on what the Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 update will include.

Many of the new features included in the update are quite groundbreaking, and will definitely please many fans of the series. The interior view for all cars (even if simplified), the ability to save during races, especially endurance ones, the ability to rewind replays, improved AI… There’s something for everyone, even Nascar fans.

You can head past the cut for the full list.

  1. Simplified interior view added to all standard cars.
  2. User control of the weather change feature.
  3. Added a setting sheet feature allowing you to save multiple car settings.
  4. Spec 2.0 opening movie.
  5. Improved UI usability and response.
  6. Replay rewind and fast forward.
  7. Ability to save during a race
  8. Online Lounge Expansion (Ability to narrow down car types via search, shuffle races).
  9. Expansion of the B-Spec remote race you can play from GT.com (a graph display now shows changes in race rankings.).
  10. Expanded Photo travel features. You can now take photo’s of cars together with your avatar.
  11. Added a “NASCAR Pit Scene” stage to Photo Travel
  12. Added eleven 2011 model NASCAR cars.
  13. Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport.
  14. Improved physics and AI.
  15. Support for the Logitec G25/G27 Steering wheel.
Yamauchi also specified Polyphony’s plans for DLCs: they are preparing a racing car pack, a track pack and a racing gear (helmets and suits) pack.
Call me crazy, but I’m especially pleased about the addition of the Schulze Motorsport Nissan GT-R, on which Yamauchi achieved a great class victory at the Nurburgring 24h, as I reported at the beginning of summer. It was an absolutely epic race, and it’ll be a pleasure to relive it, and to be able to save in the middle.
UPDATE: Sony just announced that the Spec 2.0 patch will come on October the 11th. They also shared a few screenshots that you can see in the gallery below:

-I say this with no mean spirits or ill will-   Dude, the first paragraph of the article covered endurance race saves… LoL  what did you read???????

      • http://www.facebook.com/giuseppe.nelva Giuseppe Nelva

not his fault, the article was initially written as Yamauchi was still tweeting, posting one or two points per tweet :D He was the first to comment, and Yamauchi was still a few minutes away from mentioning saves :D

I wonder if we can take photos of standard cars.  Some of my favorite car are the standard cars and I’d like to use them as my PS3 wallpaper.

I am guessing not, they must have forgot that… :(
But you can still take photos while in race, right?

        i mean replay.

Finally!! Now I can be able to do that long ass 24H Nurburgring endurance, without having to make my PS3 suffer without any breaks. >:D

#15 was all I needed to hear, but I’m pleased as hell with everything else.

Great news. Lots of comments on this one.

this should of been in the game from the start, its been almost a year!

    • http://www.facebook.com/giuseppe.nelva Giuseppe Nelva

I would say that there was PLENTY in the game from the start.

      • http://cooperanderson360.com Exiquio Cooper-Anderson

True, no one can deny that. That said, if you take a look at the features it is basically a list of things missing or incomplete: inconsistent features for the recycled cars from the PS2 generation, lack of saves for endurance races, control of weather all, etc a;; thrown in with the latest in their series of updates. It would be like adding towns to FFIXIII after the fact. Sure it was a great game released to critical acclaim, but a lot of people felt something was missing and we weren’t referring to more features. Of course that’s my opinion.

        • http://www.facebook.com/giuseppe.nelva Giuseppe Nelva

yeah something is ALWAYS missing. Fact is that there was enough content and features for three games.

But people are never happy :D

Agreed. I don’t really appreciate being lied to either. I am almost certain that the lead producer did his best to keep the developers from tweaking the game afterwards, but now he is acting as if this was the plan the whole time. I see GT5 as a platform (incomplete though it is) that should be added on to for years to come.

The screenshots are great, but some are disappointing. You can clearly see some low res textures in the F1 and Mini Cooper, as well as little detail in the car racing the Cooper itself. Come on Polyphony… why do you give so much but I still want MOARR?!?

I wonder if we are going to be able to put new wheels on standard cars.  Also, it will be so nice to be able to take pictures of more than one car at a time. (group pics)
