Ever since I spoke with Thatgamecompany’s Kellee Santiago about upcoming PlayStation exclusive Journey, I’ve been itching to see more of it. This morning composer Austin Wintory posted a video on the official PlayStation Blog of the Macedonia Radio Symphonic Orchestra performing part of the game’s score.
“It is all about emotional meaning,” Wintory wrote. “This is part of what makes Journey itself so special. The game has no fluff, no filler. I think of it like a poem.”
Journey is a game about discovery — players control a solitary figure as it roams a sandy landscape. All you know is that you must reach the mountain in the distance, nothing more. Words fail me at the way the soundtrack soars, willing your feet to take those first steps… Read what Wintory has to say and listen to the beautifully heart-melting music yourself.
