by Jan 26th 2012 2:45PM 3 Comments

Today Namco Bandai Partners Europe announced the first three DLC packages that will be released for the upcoming SoulCalibur V.

The first package will be released on February the 3rd and will include character customization items (bikinis, wings and face paint) and additional music tracks from Soul Blade and SoulCalibur. The second DLC will hit the PSN and Xbox Live on February the 14th and will include breast plates, kimono, animal heads and tracks from SoulCalibur II and III. The third package will be released on February the 28th and will let you customize your character with masks, more face paint, camouflage and skulls. It will also include music tracks from SoulCalibur IV and SoulCalibur Broken Destiny.

Each DLC package will cost $1.99  in the US and €1.99 in Europe, or 160 MS points. Single tracks can be purchased separately for $0.99, €0.99 or 80 MS Points.

You can check out the related screenshots and a new trailer (showcasing three characters designed by the development team using the character editor) below.

I’ll likely go without getting the costume packs, but I wouldn’t mind hearing some of the old Soul Edge/Blade tunes again. The original game had pretty good music.

The pricing doesn’t make it very convenient though. Unless the wording of the press release is incorrect, it’ll be 0.99 per track. Basically you get two tracks (and each package has 6 to 10 tracks) and you already spent as much as you would for the whole package. Tomorrow I have to contact Namco Bandai for something else. I’ll ask for a clarification about this as well, because it seems weird.
