It’s a meager nine days until the first batch of PlayStation Vitas are released into the Western wild. On February 8 Sony will drop a substantial update for the system, firmware version 1.60, that adds video recording to the device’s camera application.

A new map application will launch alongside the video recording, allowing users access to map directions via the systems’ GPS sensor. The app will show satellite images of the desire area and can bookmark favorite locations.

Sony will also release content managing software that is compatible with Mac OS, allowing users to back up their data, photos, and game saves on their Mac’s hard drive.

The PlayStation Vita is set to launch in its first edition bundle pack on February 15, with the individual handheld going on sale the following week on the 22.
