Remember when we told you about Rift’s attempt at the Guiness World Record for the most in-game marriages within a 24-hour period? Looks like the folks in Telara were successful. And to top it off, everyone whose in-game avatar was locked in holy matrimony with another gets the title of “The Avowed.”

Overall, 21,879 marriages were performed on Valentine’s Day and the day after. The record attempt was done in order to promote Rift’s Gatherings feature, which works just as you’d expect: Invite other players to an event and they come. You can check out a gallery of various ceremonies here. The feat will also be recorded in the 2013 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records Gamers’ Edition.
