Yesterday Team Ninja revealed an unexpected guest character for their upcoming fighter Dead or Alive 5: Akira, poster boy for the tried and true Virtua Fighter series. Akira isn’t exactly the most interesting or exciting character from the VF roster, but his inclusion leaves the door open for other series staples to crossover. Studio head Yosuke Hayashi confirmed to Famitsu that more Virtua Fighter guest characters is definitely a possibility. 

He notes that it is unlikely that all the strings would have been pulled to make this collaboration possible for just one character. Especially not one as boring as Akira, I might add. Hayashi also confirmed that Akira would control virtually (no pun intended) identically to the way he traditionally does in the VF games. Which character would you want in DOA5? I’m holding my breath for Aoi.

Dead or Alive 5 will be available this September.
