Developer Yohei Shimbori has taken to the Team Ninja Twitter account to give fans a few more much needed details about Dead or Alive 5. This time he explains the different parameters that can be seen on the character select screen. These are: Strike, Throw, Hold, Power, Speed, and Moves.
Yohei explains that the first few parameters are self explanatory; characters with high Strike ratings are effective strikers, Speed relates to how fast a character moves/attacks, grapplers possess high Throw ratings, etc. However, he points out that Moves is a special stat and that it is a bit more difficult to explain.
He uses Ayane as an example, saying that she has special movements that allow her to confuse her opponent (I believe he’s referring to her awesome spinning techniques) and therefore has a high Moves rating. Yohei notes that he wants these parameters to give players an accurate idea of how each character plays and controls. Systems like this always seem to be a bit off to me in fighting games, so hopefully Team Ninja executes it well.
Dead or Alive 5 is due on PS3 and Xbox 360 this September.
