Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is barely cold and already the ravenous fans of the series have been clamoring for more. Speculation has been for a while now that the next title in the powerhouse franchise would be a sequel to the Black Ops line.
Today we can know with good certainty that it is true, and we can expect to see the game mid-November of this year. An IGN reader by the name of “Richard” submitted a picture to that site of a preorder card from Target with the game name and release date listed. Continue reading after the break for more.
While this is by no means an official confirmation, it does seem like it would have to be a rather elaborate and expensive ruse to have decoy cards printed up to throw gamers off the track. Still, it’s not impossible, as the movie industry has showed us before, pulling stunts like hiding Return of the Jedi under the name Blue Harvest. The gaming industry however tends to be less subtle, especially the retailers as we saw with the recent leak of the Assassins Creed III cover art from Best Buy.
Look to the NBA playoffs on May 1st for an official confirmation. If it’s true we can probably expect to see some very flashy commercial trailers. We’ll have the latest on this story for you then once official confirmation is received, but for now, Black Ops 2 looks like a fairly solid bet.
