Tired of kart games that let you race only on the track? You may be in luck, as SEGA announced today that Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is in development and will be released in late 2012 on basically every platform you can imagine (Xbox 360, PS3, PC, PS Vita and 3DS).
The game is a direct sequel to Sonic & SEGA All-Star’s Racing and will feature all new drivers like Gilius Thunderhead from Golden Axe and Vyse from Skies of Arcadia.
One of the most prominent new features of the game will be the ability of the cars to dynamically transform in boats and planes, as the tracks will include water and airborne sections.
Global Sonic Brand Director David Corless stated:
Given the fantastic feedback we received from critics and consumers alike for the first game we really wanted to push the boundaries on our follow up game, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The transforming vehicles allow us to do this – as well as drifting your car around the corners of a track, you get to fly your plane and pilot your boat against others all within one race. Add to this a grid full of star characters, retro IP, fun, fast race modes and cool tracks and racing fans of all ages are sure to love this one!
