Gamescom 2012, Main, News, PS Vita, PS3
Sony today announced at Gamescom that certain titles that feature Cross-Play will also have something called cross buy. First mentioned in tandem with PlayStation All-Stars, cross buy will allow players to purchase a PS3 copy of a title and get a digital copy for the Vita absolutely free. This announcement was particularly notable for SuperBot Entertainment, who lost a lot of their Gamescom hype when Spike, Dante, Ratchet & Clank and Sackboy were leaked.
Luckily, that’s not the only title that Sony announced, Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault will also feature cross buy system. This is a big deal for the Vita, but also a bit of a hint as to how poorly the vita is currently doing. I had planned on playing PS All-Stars on the vita anyway, I’m glad to be able to save 60 bucks on that decision. Good stuff from Sony.
