After an interview with Tim Schafer goes awry, the secret behind Double Fine’s creative juice is revealed in this hilarious video (seen below) detailing the development team’s internal “Amnesia Fortnight” process.
Amnesia Fortnight is a way for the team to generate new ideas from all of the members of its team, by having each developer pitch an idea, and then build a prototype over two weeks. Where usually Scafer would choose the winning game himself–and has done so before to bring us games like Costume Quest and Stacking–this time he and Double Fine want YOU to help choose their next title.
How this will work: gamers will be given livestreams and “Raw” daily documentaries on the Double Fine team’s progress, and once the prototypes are done, gamers can download a Double Fine prototype bundle from Double Fine’s page on HumbleBundle.com. Here gamers can choose how much they want to pay and can choose how much of it goes to charity and how much to Double Fine. After trying out each game, players vote on which project should be developed next.
Check out the video below for the full details, and check out Double Fine’s youtube channel for videos based on each developer’s project. As always, stay tuned to Dualshockers for more new, and let us know what you think about Amnesia Fortnight in the comments!
