Yesterday, we learned of a rumor about next year’s Tomb Raider having multiplayer; today we learned that rumor was true.
In response to the new news, Tomb Raider‘s developer Crystal Dynamics have–via the Tomb Raider Tumblr page– also released exactly who is working on their game’s Multiplayer: Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Thief 4 developer, Edios Montreal.
The Tomb Raider blog also gives us the reason why Multiplayer was introduced: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.
The well-received Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (which we liked so much we gave it an 8.5) was a top down twin-shooter downloadable game that was built around two-player co-op. The Tomb Raider blog says that Crystal Dynamics was so “inspired” by the overwhelming response to the game’s co-op multiplayer, that Multiplayer was considered and created for the reboot.
Their will be more details on the way, the Tomb Raider blog says, but do we have our first clues already? If Crystal Dynamics is using Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light as a template for Multiplayer, does that mean that the Multiplayer in next year’s Tomb Raider will be based around co-op mechanics?
