The release of SimCity is less than a week away, and quite a lot of perspective virtual Mayors are quite excited about it, but what about Will Wright, the man that started it all?
If the video Q&A recorded together with lead designer Stone Librande is any indication, he quite likes it, and he goes at length in explaining how the new game allowed him to experiment on hos city-building fantasies.
Interestingly enough the very first thing addressed is the size of cities, that is smaller than that of the previous games of the franchise and proved to be quite the point of contention between die-hard fans. Personally, at least from what I’ve seen so far, I don’t have much of a problem with it, and agree with Wright on the fact that the quality and intricacy of the simulation is more important than sheer size. Of course we’ll have to wait for the review to know how I will really feel about it, but that’s my initial impression.
