Microsoft have just unveiled Kinect Fusion, a Kinect program coming to Windows SDK where a full 3D model or environment can be instantly created by scanning it with the Kinect. The application seems like an obvious evolution of the hardware, and the amount of ways this can be used in gaming could be tremendous.
You can see examples of Kinect Fusion in the video below. Doesn’t the idea remind you of earlier attempts at putting players’ faces in video games? Maybe Fusion along with a next-gen Kinect sensor could make creating characters in video game franchises like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and WWE a lot easier and a lot more detailed.
