If you thought Saints Row: The Third was crazy, looks like we’re in for a double ration of crazy with a bit of deranged sprinkled on top with the sequel: Saints Row IV.
Today Deep Silver and Volition announced that the fourth chapter of the intentionally nonsensical open world saga will be released on PC and current generation consoles on August the 20th in the United States and on August the 23rd in Europe. Interestingly enough it’s been confirmed that the “current generation consoles” definition does not include the Wii U, so we’re looking at a release on the usual PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 triad. I guess Nintendo fans will have to resort to Pikmin if they want their healthy injection of crazy.
The new game will see the boss of the Saints elected as the president of the United States (hey, I’ve seen worse choices…) just in time for a massive alien invasion. Very conveniently the invading aliens lock up the Saints in a virtual reality simulation of Steelport, creating the perfect setting for mindless destruction and havoc.
Alongside the announcement Deep Silver also released a teaser trailer and a few screenshots, that you can see below. I sure didn’t expect Saints Row IV to be announced this soon after the demise of THQ, but you won’t see me complain about it, that’s pretty much for sure.
