The past week was pretty big for established and popular game franchises in Japan, with the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Super Robot Wars UX. Yet none of the two games based on beloved IPs was at the top of the media create software charts today.
Maybe it’s a sign of the changing times, or just the proof of the success of a series that was very much loved but also extensively criticized (it actually became quite cool to bash it between anime “connoisseurs”), but Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment managed to race past the two prestigious opponents and beat them both, while narrowly.
The PSP rendition of the fictional virtual reality MMORPG sold 138,180 copies, while Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX moved 128,414 and “only” 115,384 copies of Super Robot Wars UX found a warm Japanese home to call their own.
Unfortunately it’s still unlikely that we’ll see a release of Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment in English, despite the local success, but a man can still hope, can’t he?
