Gunther Galipot, developer and creator of the original Spies vs. Mercs multiplayer mode in 2004’s Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow has returned to the series in order to work on its next iteration in the upcoming Splinter Cell Blacklist. Galipot describes Spies vs. Mercs in its most basic form: a lethal game of a hide-and-seek in which one group of mean seek to infiltrate a compound, and fight those who are guarding it.
The entire mode has been designed around problem-solving, and matches will only two-versus-two and four-versus-four. There is a very minimalist design at place, in order to appease the longtime fans, while other additions are being made in order to please newer fans to the series.
Splinter Cell Blacklist is being developed by Ubisoft Toronto and will be published by Ubisoft for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U on August 20th, 22nd, and 23rd, 2013 in North America, Australia, and Europe, respectively.
