New Monster Hunter Online Info and Screenshots Introduce the Great Sword and the Bulldrome

While we’re still wondering if Monster Hunter Online will ever be published in the west, Tencent released some new info about the game focused on the Great Sword weapon option and on the Bulldrome, that will be one of the alpha bosses included in the upcoming MMORPG.

The Great Sword will feature a gameplay style familiar to what Monster Hunter fans are used to. Players will be able to perform the relatively fast Vertical Slash, a Cross Slash (that will cover a wider area) and a Charged Slash that will deal variable damage depending on the duration of the charge. The weapon will also allow to block incoming attacks. In addition to that, a special move named “Gates to Hell” will let the great sword spin around the character in a whirlwind of death.

The Bulldrome will make its return after being skipped in Monster Hunter Tri, and will be one of the alpha monsters included in the game (its presence suggests that the smaller Bullfango will also be on the menu). It will challenge the player with a powerful but predictable and easily avoidable charge move, a more tricky short range charge, an upwards fang attack, and a turning fang attack that will allow it to quickly turn around and impale those standing behind it.

With the info the publisher also released a bunch of related (and definitely lovely) screenshots, that you can check out in the gallery below.

This game is not made by Capcom. Is made and published by Tencent, which is a Chinese developer. In China the console market is non-existent, so a console release is unlikely.
