When I wrote my hands-on preview of phases one and two of the beta of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, I stated that character creation was pretty god, but didn’t evolve much from the first FFXIV. There definitely was room for improvement.
Today Square Enix posted a new developers’ blog post by Localization Team Lead Michael Christoper Koji Fox showing that much of that room for improvement has been covered.
In the screenshots (that you can find in the gallery below) we see new hairstyles for males and females (including long ones, that are always very much in demand in MMORPGs), new tattoos, new color options, and sliders for ear size and height.
The post obviously hints to more slider-based customization being implemented with the question “What else could there be a slider for!?”
I’m personally going to guess breast size. While you make your own guess you can check out the gallery at the bottom of this post.
In addition to the character customization screenshots the publisher also announced the next Letter from the Producer Live webcast with Naoki Yoshida. It will broadcast on May the 30th at 1 PM GMT (8 AM EST) and Yoshida-san will talk about the beta test and the official release of the game.
