While other publishers seem to have a clear case of cold feet towards the Wii U, President of Warner Bros. Interactive President Martin Tremblay believes that the platform will do well, as he said during an interview published by GameIndustry International.
We’re a believer on the Wii U. Honestly, we hope everybody’s going to work out. It’s just good for the industry.
Tremblay did not deny that the Wii U may be underperforming, but he still holds hope.
I think the console has been off to a slow start, but I think they’re going to fix the problem. I don’t think it’s a problem, but it’s more about the content. And I think they showed tons of new content that will re-energize the platform.
In addition to that, while clarifying that Warner Bros. will support both PS4 and Xbox One and that both consoles have “amazing specs” he had a lot of praise to share about the price tag on Sony’s upcoming console.
Honestly, I’m very pleased with Sony’s price point. This is spot-on what I think the price point needs to be, and it will energize and make the transition easier. That being said, we’ll see how consumers are going to go for it. We’re building for both platforms. We like both. The specs are amazing on both sides. But I really do like Sony’s price point; this is something that can give us a chance to succeed quicker.
One thing is for sure: Mr. Tremblay is right about the fact that all platforms managing to achieve success is good for the industry. As a matter of fact, when you get right down to it, close competition is good first and foremost for gamers. While not everyone is as optimistic as he is, we can only hope for him to be right.
