Lunar Software’s Routine, if you haven’t heard about it, is an 80′s vision of the future set on an abandoned Moon Base, taking the first person survival horror genre and injecting it with an emphasis on exploration, running, hiding, defending, and perma-death. The game is said to be a non-linear experience, one that let’s you explore at your leisure as you try to uncover the data behind the strange disappearance of the Lunar Research Station’s personnel.
The game is supposed to allow full body awareness (whether this is a feature of the supported Oculus Rift device is unknown), Deadzone aiming, have no HUD, health bars or point system, and will encourage you to stay alive as long as you can. Routine will also have hidden areas, randomized environment hazards, A.I. locations and floppy disks to update the software for the player’s Cosmonaut Assistance Tool.
The gameplay footage and screenshots you see below are all from an alpha build of the game, built by a team of four people on the Unreal Engine 3.
