Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Gets a Batch of Lovely Character Illustrations by Akihiko Yoshida

Another beta weekend of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has ended, and fans on Twitter and on the official forums are already having withdrawals, but in order to help Square Enix released a batch of character art by Lead Character Designer Akihiko Yoshida.

The illustrations, that you can see in the gallery below, show each of the eight basic classes available in the game, including Arcanist that still didn’t appear in the beta. The order is as follows: Arcanist, Archer, Conjurer, Gladiator, Lancer, Marauder, Pugilist and Thaumaturge.

As usual Yoshida’s soft and charming style does a lovely work of depicting Final Fantasy XIV‘s characters. Now if only Square Enix left the beta open 24/7…

It’s hard waiting from beta phase to beta phase to play. Definitely looking forward to the full game hitting in late August, as well. 🙂

i never played the beta. i figured i would spoil it for myself . although right now i feel like pulling my hair out for not doing the beta. i just need to become a monk for 2 months and just chant some sutras until this game comes out.

awesome art set as always from Akihiko Yoshida, but…. a few of them doesn’t quite match the gear sets pertaining to the class/job. for example, the lancer is wearing the gryphonskin gear set that is currently available only for pug/mnk (griped about this since i used it for my archer in 1.23) and conjurer is wearing the vanya set that is only for thm/blm and arc/smn in the current beta. not sure if they’ll change things when it comes to launch or if akihiko had drawn them before the specifics was made.

anyways, love the forestriker set on archer and looking forward to crafting it if they’re implementing a level 80 version at launch.

omg level 80 i don’t believe it. they would need to have a lot more content this time around if thats the case. level 80 everything with raptor party lol. ( well at least off the old world)

oh by level 80 i mean item level 80. certain gear sets, either through by crafting or dungeon drops, such as the gryphonskin sets, heavy darksteel armor, darklight armor, ifrit and garuda weapons, etc. are now classified as level 80 items or “ilvl”. relic weapons are classified as item level 95 and GC gears are item level 65, in comparison to normal gears such as cobalt gears remains the same of being item level 45-49 in 1.0. these changes were implemented by the changes of the materia system and stat allocation i’m assuming.

all those item lvls seem off to me since in the old version everything was maxed out at 50. guess there was a major change in weapons and monster placement.

I have a friend working on the game. He says they plan to make the beta last all week but are working on stability issues. It’s normal for a game to need bugs worked out. 🙂

      meaning this week or next?
