PS Vita Exclusive JRPG Chronos Materia Gets its First Screenshots and Artwork, Introduces Characters

Gust released today the first batch of screenshots and artwork of the PS Vita exclusive JRPG Chronos Materia, that will hit the Japanese shelves on September the 26th for 6090 yen.

The game is officially defined “an epic RPG that everyone can go crazy for and a social game that everyone can enjoy easily”, and is based on the concept of rewinding time (thanks to a system called “Eternity Tour”) to change events that have already unfolded, like defeating a boss that was at first impossible to beat, or making different choices to generate different outcomes.

In the screenshots below, in fact, you can see the effects of such system (and its interface). Players will find a burning village. They can either do nothing, and it’ll be burned down completely, or go back in time and prevent the cause of the fire.

Replayability and the ability to make different choices to influence the unfolding of the events are heavily emphasized. If you make a mistake you can fix it later, and get virtually infinite time with the game.

The game will reward exploration and include an extensive crafting and gathering system, necessary to “survive” by mixing a variety of materials in order to create new and usable items.

We also get to meet the main cast of the game, that includes the gentle alchemist Iris, the strong and reckless  Time, the cool and confident Primula, and the soft spoken and calm Shion.

Below you can enjoy the full gallery. Looks like the PS Vita is going to get another little gem, while we still don’t know whether western gamers will be able to enjoy it in English or not. We can only hope.

Is this game turn-based or Action RPG?

I did some research and couldn’t find out any details about the battle system. But, the game still sounds cool, and there’s a good chance that it will make it to the West, too, so that’s always a good thing.

Def turn based judging by the screenshot.
