Rockstar Looking For Programmers to Bring its Games to PC

by on July 9, 2013 3:40 AM 1

Rockstar just posted a career opportunity ad seeking a graphics programmer to help bring its games to the PC platform, possibly hinting to the possibility of seeing more PC support from the developer in the future.

Rockstar Leeds are currently looking for a talented graphics programmer to help bring our latest titles to the PC platform.  Working together with the other Rockstar studios, you will be responsible for maintaining the studio’s uncompromising quality bar, delivering the highest quality PC experience possible.

The ad doesn’t specify on what games the candidates would work. Here’s hoping for a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, but I also wouldn’t really scoff at the possibility of playing Red Dead Redemption on my PC. That kind of open world games always look better on a more powerful machine.

That said, the ad may not be related to the upcoming chapter of Grand Theft Auto at all, as the “responsibilities” paragraph reads:

Work within a team of skilled developers on Next Generation games.

Unfortunately GTAV doesn’t qualify as “Next Generation”, unless Rockstar is actually planning to bring it to PS4 and Xbox One in the future, of course.

Well rockstar leeds ported LA noire on pc. Yes it was locked on 30 fps but it wasnt their game and they didnt have the sourcoude.

Bully, manhunt 2, made it to pc at a late time.

Bully was re-released on next gen x360/ wii and pc on a new engine.

Since watchdogs and others will be released for next gen systems, i bet gta V will be released to pc and next gen consoles at the same time.
