Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn New Benchmark With Character Creation Coming on August the 1st, Live Letter on the 8th

by on July 14, 2013 10:17 AM 8

During a livestream on Nico Nico Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida announced that the much awaited new benchmark of the game that includes the character creator feature will be released on August the 1st.

With the new benchmark players will be able to create their characters and save their looks, that will be loaded into the final game ready to be used at release on August the 27th (or during the open beta the beginning of which still hasn’t been announced).

In addition to that, Yoshida-san also announced that the next Letter from the Producer Live broadcast will be aired on August the 8th. This could also be a hint on the beginning of the open beta, as beta phases pretty much always begin around the date of a Letter from the Producer Live, but of course this is just my speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.

i’ve got to say maybe its just my computer but it seems like my pc based off the old world graphics looks better than the ps3 version. but i’m still really impressed with what they have accomplished was not expecting this game to look this good…. i’m contradicting myself.

I do think that 1.0 looked a lot better in many ways. But 2.0 looks better in others as well.

The most disappointing thing however is how everything is zoned, in 1.0 when you explored the black shroud there were no zones. It was all one giant seamless area. The only time it zoned out was when changing regions. Which I guess is probably one of the problems they had with it on PS3 in the first place because apparently 1.0 would render out geometry for miles and miles and the PS3 could not handle it.

i thought the zone thing would be a lot worse when i stepped out of gridania but that first map/zone was huuuge. i was thinking that they were gonna cut it up a lot smaller with maybe like 10 monsters for each area. zone after zone after zone was what i thought it would be for every like 15 seconds because of the ps3.

That and the extensive area didn’t allow for much variance in models thus it looked really bland as opposed to what we have now which are environments lush with life and detail.

Will be able to import our 1.0 characters into this new Benchmark from existing 1.0 installation?

It’d also be nice if this benchmark wasn’t so CPU bottlenecked like the previous one.
