From today’s Media Create Japanese sales charts we learned that Dragon’s Crown is doing really well at brick and mortar stores in Japan. Well enough to have been very difficult to find since last Saturday.
Vanillaware’s official twitter account just gave us a further detail on how the downloadable version of the game is doing on the PlayStation Store as well.

Here’s a translation for your perusal:
About 180,000 copies of Dragon’s Crown sold in the first week. The Digital Download version is also going strong. Thank you very much!
That’s not too surprising, as people that didn’t find the game at retail most probably redirected their purchase on the PSN, and that’s quite a feat as Japanese gamers are normally very fond of their physical copies.
In the meanwhile the game is still either sold out or showing low stocks at most major retailers in Japan, indicating that it’ll most probably keep the strong momentum going this week as well. We’ll have to see how it goes with the Media Create charts next Wednesday, but for now Vanillaware seems to have hit the jackpot at least in Japan.
What about the North American version? You’ll be able to read my review in less than two hours, when the embargo will be lifted (Update: Here it is).
