thechineseroom’s newest title, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, has been announced as a title for the PlayStation 4. The game will function as the spiritual successor to Dear Esther and will take place in an open-world environment. The setting is crafted around what is presumably a post-apocalyptic setting and will revolve around six characters in what is being designed as a primarily story-driven experience.
thechineseroom’s co-directors had this to say about the project on the PlayStation Blog:
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture will be powerful and deep, highly immersive and with an absolute focus on your emotional journey through the world. It’s non-linear, with a dynamic and adaptive environment, so this is about your story, a really individual experience that breaks away from the on-rails nature of lots of story-driven games into something that you have a visible impact on.
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is being developed by thechineseroom and will be published for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
