inXile Entertainment CEO Brian Fargo is one of the men that contributed to make Kickstarter “cool”, and to spearhead the notion that it could be used to fund games without the help of a publisher thanks to his Wasteland 2 project first and then making an even bigger splash in a second round with Torment: Tides of Numenera.
That’s why there’s probably no better man that could give us an informed opinion on the current situation of Kickstarter and on where the popular crowdfunding service is going.
Lately quite a few canceled project have made the news, while some media outlets (for reasons mostly unknown) plainly refuse to cover Kickstarted games or take an openly hostile stance towards them.
At Gamescom in Cologne I had a chance to have a quick chat with Brian during a presentation of Wasteland 2 (Of which you’ll see a preview on DualShockers very soon), and he was very clear in explaining that Kickstarter isn’t going away, and that the situation is much better than what it may seem from outside.
