Hideki Kamiya to Those Asking About Bayonetta 2’s Wii U Exclusivity: “F*ck Off”

by on November 1, 2013 1:06 PM 19

Looking forward to Bayonetta 2? You may want to think twice before you ask Platinum Studios’, Hideki Kamiya, about its exlusivity to the Wii U. Mr. Kamiya had this to say on Twitter when he was recently asked:

Mr. Kamiya added that those curious about the game’s exclusivity should go away and consult Nintendo, not him. I think he is upset.

Bayonetta 2 is being developed by Platinum Games and will be published by Nintendo for the Wii U on an unannounced date next year.

I can’t love this guy enough. He doesn’t put up with any crap.

People need to get over the fact that SEGA killed it before Nintendo brought it back from the dead. And thus the rights for the distribution of the game belong to them

Well Sega undersold it with poor marketing & Platinum was sick of Sega’s lacking in that area so Platinum wanted someone else as publisher thus they consulted with Sega about who would do a better job at publishing. Sega replied with nintendo.
No other companies could’ve published it since the opportunity wasn’t offered.

You’re right nintendo owns Bayonetta 2 but not the IP, so just as Ninja Gaiden II & Mass Effect was published by microsoft then ended up on the PS3 with enhanced versions, Bayonetta 2 could get an enhanced version of it’s own for 360 & PS3.
If not then that’s platinum’s stupidity for letting it go to one target audience & not 3.

    Kamiya, why U so mad?

    Kamiya is a bada$$

    • Armillus

I wouldn’t say bada$$, I’d rather dumba$$! I understand it must be annoying but there is a way to talk to those who are likely to buy your games… If they really want the game, they’ll buy a Wii U (as I did…)

  • Koroma

Sounds to me like he’s upset that it’s Exclusive.

  • Noctem

    U Mad Bro ?

  • Ryumoau

Anyone giving Nintendo exclusivity to Nintendo at this point deserves to have their game flop. No one cares about Wii U, when they are two other more competitive console experiences available later this month.

    • Grumpy

Yes, because we all know that real gamers want to fight over which system has the better version of Ghosts. People DO care about Nintendo, but since the modern gamer wants the same rehashed crap over and over again, THEY are the ones responsible for the lack of popularity regarding the Wii U since Nintendo continues to appeal to old school gamers. Ever wonder why it’s a family friendly machine? Because the people who grew up with Nintendo are all grown up with kids of their own and know damn good and well that Nintendo, while light hearted, makes games that are fun to play and manages to port popular titles to appeal to the kids of said families. I know I’d rather have my Wii U than a PS4 or Xbone. My PS3 served as nothing more than a hard drive to store my PS1 classics and watch Netflix because the only games worth my time are available for the Wii U or PC.

While it’s true nintendo caters to families & remains old school, they don’t have the library that supports the M-rated audience which the majority of gamers want to play. Nintendo are the ones responsible for the lack of popularity regarding the Wii U, not the gamers.
It’s lack of interests & appeal are the faults of nintendo & no one else.
Developers knows this as many many many has stopped porting title to nintendo since yrs ago, since GameCube i think.

Ryumoau is right many gamers don’t care for the Wii-U as Bayonetta fans loved it so much still refuses to follow Bayonetta 2 when it went exclusive to Wii-U because many gamers just don’t care for it.
So don’t get upset at gamer’s preferences, get upset at nintendo for not trying harder to appeal to the M-rated audience.

        • LogicIncarnate

I still believe that not all games have to be M rated to be fun and I prefer the more balanced approach of Nintendo consoles.

    • LogicIncarnate

I care about Wii U more than PS4 and Xbox One, your opinions don’t apply to everyone.

  • Galen Nycroft

I don’t get it. Is he angry because he is tired of people asking him, or is he angry because his game is stuck on the Wii U console exclusively?

Hideo Baba would never say this to fans!

    • VW

That’s what he gets for consulting with Sega on who they to publish Bayonetta 2. How smart is that. platinum says ” Bayonetta is a brand that we want to see become stronger, reaching the hands of more and more gamers, ”

Yet they 1. consult with Sega who they dislike how they handle marketing products2. Let it go exclusive on one system. http://platinumgames.com/2012/09/14/bayonetta-2-joins-the-wonderful-101-on-wii-u/

How in the world are you going to reach many many gamers when it’s exclusive to one console & not on 3?

Capcom saw what a mistake that was when the ResidentEvil creator tried that.

So whatever Bayonetta 2 makes in sales numbers, platinum could’ve tripled it by having it on 3 systems.
