Sony Changes PSN Policies for PS Vita TV, Allows Registering Three PS Vita Units

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia announced today with a press release that the currently set limit of two PS Vita units that can be registered to a single SEN/PSN account will be upped to three.

The change will be implemented on November the 18th, and it’s due to the fact that with three different PS Vita models (including the PS Vita TV released today), it’s very possible that users may have more than two units and may want to register them all to the same account.

At the moment the press release was sent only by the Japanese side of the company, so there’s no mention on whether the change will apply only to Japanese accounts or to western ones as well.

Finally an answer to the activation limit, but I would still have liked it better if they gave the PS Vita TV its own activations count instead of consuming one from the handheld activations count.

Any way, I am happy with the extra activation count, this way I won’t be forced to write off my PSP just to activate the PS Vita TV…. even though I haven’t used the PSP since I got the PS Vita 🙂

    Yes! 😀

Great. Does that mean Vita TV will have its seperate sales chart

It would make no sense to give it its own sales chart, it is still a Vita even though it is a different version. The guts is practically the same and the SDK* can’t be that different.

Only some features are missing, but it is still a PS Vita.

Edit: * assuming it needs one for it that is different from the PS Vita

And the much requested announcement finally arrives XP

The November 18th date is wrong. That date was simply referring to when they changed the activation limit from 5 to 2 back in 2011. They haven’t announced a date for the change yet, but it’s should be pretty soon.
