Here’s the Xbox One’s “Green Screen of Death” Caught on Video

by on November 22, 2013 1:52 PM 25

As expected, The Xbox One is not a magical device with no failure rate, and many reports are starting to surface about the “green screen of death,” a bit of an overly dramatic name for a freeze happening at the initial loading screen that prevents the user to enjoy the console any further.

If you follow this site you probably know YouTuber RajmanGaming HD, since he provides quite a few gameplay videos we publish. He was one of the first to show Assassin’s Creed IV on PS4 and more. Unfortunately he hasn’t been so lucky with the Xbox One, and got exactly issue described.

Of course he caught it on video, and you can check it out below. According to Rajman, he left the console on with the frozen screen for up to 30 minutes, and there’s no progress.

Just keep in mind that it’s normal for new hardware to have issues, and this isn’t any evidence that the Xbox One has a relevant percentage of bad units out in the wild. It’s more of a testament of the simple fact that issues happen to all camps, so maybe it’s a good idea to take things with some moderation instead of pointing fingers and laughing.

you’re actually a retard this is all you do.. come on articles and trash them, why would the guy lie..!? and you act like hes the only person experiencing this problem…?

But what if we point and laugh at everything? Followed by crying ourselves to sleep in our cold, lonely bed?

  • Flyte_79

We can’t point and laugh at the dumb ass suckers who bought xbox ones? aw :(

    DAY 1 ISSUES :

PS4 had more than 10 reported issues (hdmi, blue light, red light, noisy fan, wobbly, bad hdd, etc)

XO had less than 5 reported issues

PS4 has better chance of getting fail in the cramped small case. HW design/quality counts, not just resolutions. You get what you pay for. Sony beloved ladies are still mad and looking hard to find new issues on XO.

PS4 may have had a number of issues, but less instances of these issues. Meanwhile there are hundreds of reports of bad optical drives, bricked systems on update, and failure to boot like the video shows. The Xbox One actually runs hotter than the PS4, despite having a larger fan, a gigantic case, and an external power supply. Don’t you think it should run cooler than the PS4, with an internal power supply, smaller fan, and much slimmer design? Maybe overclocking the Xbox One’s slower GPU wasn’t such a good idea?

      P.S. Wobbly? Really? SMH.

My Xbox is perfectly normal and right now you really don’t hear a lot of thing going wrong with the.xbox. besides the people who need internet to update.

      • troled you

Maybe its because more people buy x-box?

        • Counterproductive

Xbone launch flopped. Deal with it, Zaire.

  • Jorge Jimenez

Thats a bummer, thats the risk we take we buy things at launch. I am now a little nervous every time my xbone boots up. Thanks for making me paranoid G =p.

If the start-up screen is “the green screen of death”, then God help Xbox!

It’s a new piece of hardware, issues are bound to pop up people. We have to wait and see what the failure percentage is before making judgements, and see what each company does to fix them.

My PS4 had an issue on day two where I couldn’t get out of standby and had to reset the HDD in its connector, but it’s been fine since. I chose not to purchase an Xbox One due to the price, Microsoft’s policies and customer treatment in the past, and due to the available games at launch… I’m not into racing or fighters, or really even FPS games.

For PS4 I own Killzone, Knack, Contrast, Resogun, Blacklight Retribution, and Warframe… and pretty much all I play is Resogun since I damn well love the game.

LOL, look at the games you Like and Dislike, it sounds like you shouldn’t buy a PS4 or XB1, but maybe a Wii or a 3DS…. ;)

      • bdavid81

Funny. I actually own a PS4, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, Vita, and pretty much every console back to the ATARI 2600, with the exception of OUYA & Panasonic 3DO. Thanks though for the input.

    — UPDATE FROM THE PERSON WHO POSTED THE VIDEO —

UPDATE: I managed to fix this =) I use the Xbox One “Emergency Offline
Update” (which for some reason Microsoft took down from their website)
and it has fixed my console and its now working fine.

    • You are flat out wrong

      Damage control from PoopKnight ^_^

50% Xbone failure rate according to Amazon reviews, what a disaster. These consoles should be recalled.

      • PromKnight

Damage control from… You Are Flat Out Wrong (Really, the name says it all)

Seeing as SDF has announced that they are giving 1star votes to the Xbox, You would be COMPLETELY wrong.

also the only verified Reviews are 4-5 star ratings.

PS4 however has around 60% 1star VERIFIED Reviews

        • Kosta Markus

PS4 blinking blue light of death, every review on amazon for the PS4 is one star, Sony won’t replace any…and they complain about Xbox.
          Bunch of fanboys.
