PS4 Black Friday Bundle Outsells Xbox One Equivalent Soundly at GameStop; Ranked 2nd and 7th

by on November 29, 2013 3:14 PM 51

It’s doubtless that Black Friday is a strategic date for shopping in the United States, so it’s not surprising that leading retailer GameStop decided to provide a rich bundle for both the PS4 and the Xbox One.

The PS4 bundle included  the console, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, a second DualShock 4 and a year of PlayStation Plus for $609.95. The Xbox One bundle  included the console, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, a second controller and and a $20 Xbox One goift card for $699.96.

Apparently the PS4 bundle was considerably more successful than the rival, ranking 2nd in the Best Selling chart (beaten only by the Xbox 360 version of Just Dance 2014), as opposed to the 7th place of the Xbox One.

It’s interesting to notice that GameStop did try to keep the Xbox One bundle under the psychological amount of $700, while the same effort wasn’t done with the PS4, that wasn’t sold under $600.

On the other hand, looking at the last generation, the PS3 bundle including The Last of Us and Batman: Arkham Origins is ranked 9th, while the Xbox 360 bundle with Tomb Raider and Halo 4 is in 12th position.

    Apparently 609 > 699…

    • Jason Mounce

$609 and more bang for your buck? Killzone and Knack haven’t had the best review scores, though same with Ryze, but Resogun being free still and a year of PSN+ and a 2nd controller? You can’t go wrong.

      • KuchikiSentou

If you live your life by review scores; then you won’t have many intelligent conversations. If you’ve been playing video games for at least 10 years, then I’m truly flabbergasted by your comment about review scores.

You’re not buying the reviews, mate, you’re buying the games.

        • Jason Mounce

Who sent in the presumptuous, prejudgmental scumbag?

I said they haven’t had the best review scores….that’s it…that statement remains factual no matter how much you want to look at me as some silly little kid who buys games based on ‘review scores’ when I didn’t even imply such a thing.
:D Get off my d*ck please.

          • KuchikiSentou

Why mention their review scores when the scores have nothing to do with bundles or the sales of such items?

What relevance did your comment about their review scores hold in your comment?

          • Jason Mounce

Because some people Do infact look to review scores to give them an idea of what the general quality of a game is. As in this day and age unlike the 80′s or 90′s, demo’s are becoming more and more scarce. The primary method of ‘Demonstrating’ the game is largely used with Piracy on PC to give people a solid grasp on whether or not its worth their money. Ontop of that and people being more considerate with their financial issues unlike the past, aka, economy turmoil.

Ontop of this, Sony admitted that they were expecting Knack to be generally around a 70′s quality game, essentially? That means they weren’t even trying to make the game be a quote-on-quote ‘AAA’ title. People can generally perceive a review rating, varying on a source, as to what quality you can expect before you make your purchase or Investment in said-product. I gave the factual statement that they’re not getting the based of review scores, this does not illustrate my intent, my desires, my methods of how I invest my money. You jumped to conclusion and acted out in a Snobbish and pratty/obnoxious/rude manner by presuming.

Here’s what I follow in perception, it’s Active Listening. You do not Challenge other people when you don’t know their full intent. A true person of intellect will ALWAYS ask when unsure. Those who presume to me show lesser intelligence than those who ask, which separates a child who always asks because they wish to sponge information whereas adults or growing-youth tend to do what you do and challenge before you ask to learn.

          • KuchikiSentou

Face facts mate. Your comment about the review scores had no bearing on your comment. You just put it out there to show that you knew the review scores were less than stellar. Everybody on Dualshockers has known for weeks that Knack and Killzone had mixed reviews; you’re just “stating the obvious”. Those reviews were out in the week on Nov 13.

Sony’s idea of the reception of Knack has nothing to do with the fact that the bundle is cheaper on this list. You’re pointing out old and irrelevant facts.

Both consoles are mostly sold out. Good games and bad games sold alike. Fighter Within; Ryse etc. You haven’t adequately demonstrated the relevance of stating a 2-week-old fact in a comment about bundle sales. You’re just calling out adjectives to deflect the clear banality of your statement. Have a look at your comment again. You simply stated an obvious fact that everyone who goes on websites to read on games news knows already.

If you can’t make concise comments, don’t make such as a response to mine. Thanks.

          • Jason Mounce

I don’t think there’s any way to get through the dense shrubbery that is your perception which is fractured by tunnel-vision. That and I think you argue for the sake of arguing.

My original analysis that you’re a pseudo-intellectual scumbag seems to be spot-on. Feel free to stop responding to me if you continue struggling to accept the truth and reality. The world doesn’t revolve around you and I think you need to stop looking in the mirror any time you say “Face the facts”, mate.

            No Allons-y for you.

          • KuchikiSentou

You’re the one who came up with review scores. You have failed over and over to demonstrate the relevance of that comment. If you want to make comments devoid of perspicacity don’t make them as responses to mine. Your talk about perception and shrubbery is just dallying around aimlessly like your initial comment. If a statement is designed to be a response to something it needs to be concise. You can’t show that you are capable of this little feat, so don’t deflect by talking about who the world revolves around.

            All I’m saying…

          • Jason Mounce

I demonstrated the ‘relevance of my comment’ in my original response when you inquired. Don’t relate your incompetence to me, or your inability to read.

You seem to be the kind of person who can’t let go and tries to have a last-say in things and/or can’t stand to not have the last say in a conversation and ‘Has’ to be right whether you’re already proven wrong or otherwise. I already know it’s useless to commit to trying to make you understand even though I laid it out as clear as day, so do everyone a favor and hush, there’s no need to pursue further drama. You’ve already done enough to show your colors of being irrational and a pseudo-intellectual with irrational conclusion-hopping. What would I gain by dragging this on when I know you cannot and refuse to learn? It’s obvious you’ve got tunnel-vision.

All I’m saying…. I know it’s futile and I know you have no case, you jumped to conclusions, you can’t admit to your mistakes, you’re digging yourself a mountain out of a molehill and you’re likely the type to never admit to being in the wrong. So again, why bother? I won’t. :D Accept the fact of you being presumptuous, pompous and a prat and move on whether you publicly admit to it or do so in a corner of your room, either way. Your argumentativeness is redundant and pointless.

          • KuchikiSentou

And I spoke of how your explanation is irrelevant. Everyone knows the reviews affect long term perception. But it’s clear that it’s irrelevant when the games are but 2 weeks old, as are the reviews.
No. You spoke of your perspective of reviews; not how they pertained in your response to my innocuous statement. The only thing of relevance you said was “you can’t go wrong”.

The rest was largely drivel. Talking about getting off your whatsits.

          • Jason Mounce

            :)

          • KuchikiSentou

I am Kuchiki “Sentou”. See how it’s different from Kuchiki “Ginrei”, or Kuchiki “Rukia”, Kuchiki “Kouga” or Kuchiki “Soujun”. Look who’s talking about tunnel-vision and perception

Get it right. Your name-calling invalidates your haughty comments.

          • Jason Mounce

            ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°

          • KuchikiSentou

As I said earlier incapable of holding intelligent conversation. Just don’t reply to my comments in the future.
            Thanks.

          • Jason Mounce

ಠ_ಠ Your mass Downrating-spamming is totally hurting my feelings and all of the people who simply aren’t agreeing with you.

          • Woohoo!!

You will have to stop because I promise you, he wont

          • Jason Mounce

Yea, am stopping right here. Though I’m gonna post a relevant image I found on google. Good tip though!

          • KuchikiSentou

Of course, that one person who comes in and defends my assailant.

I was on my own; with a humble innocuous paradox of how 609 is greater than 699, and somebody assaults my comment with review score drivel; yet I’m the bad guy. Amazing

          • Woohoo!!

Not defending anyone, just appealing to the only one who could be capable of showing restraint. I know from past experience that it wouldn’t be you

          • KuchikiSentou

            Touché I guess.

          • Jason Mounce

Does me using images-only count as ‘restraint’ ?

          • KuchikiSentou

“Killzone and Knack haven’t had the best review scores, though same with Ryze, ”

This statement had no relevance, no value in your initial comment. It provided nothing to the comment and could have done well without it. I highlight it for you so you can look at it again and see the error of your ways.

Moral of the story: don’t respond to my comments with needless phrases and locutions.

        • Jason Mounce

Also, good job on representing your character in your avatar. I mean, it must be hard to be a pseudo-intellectual douche over the internet who jumps to conclusions on very little information :o

(It’s more likely than you think)

      • cubs223425

I’d rather get the two games, since I have Xbox LIVE already, though. You can actually get LIVE free through Bing Rewards, if you want, so I’d rather have the game myself.

        • Jason Mounce

          People use Bing?….

          • Not A PC Gamer

Unfortunately we have to in order to participate in the Bing Rewards Program (google it if interested). In 2 1/2 years I got over $530 bucks of Microsoft points and Amazon gift cards spending about 20 mins or less a day to do them.

You basically set up 5 seperate user accounts on your computer and make sure they are different first names but the same last names and the same physical address. That’s it. The way I see it, Microsoft has been screwing people over since god knows when so it’s only natural to get everything you can from those crooks.. Hell I funded 3/4 of my PS4 purchase because of this program.

Just google it and check it out.. I’m tell you all if you make 5 accounts (which is the limit) you will have over $500 in just two years if you do it everyday.

          • Jason Mounce

            Interesting? :lll

          • Not A PC Gamer

Yeah just a friendly head’s up.. Just google Bing rewards program and btw.. you don’t have to dl the bing toolbar if you don’t want to either.. It can all be done from the web. Probably the best promotion MS has ever done IMO.. much better than them giving us 6 year old games for their free games for gold promotion! :)

          • Jason Mounce

Hah. Sounds like Microsoft alright :P

          • Not A PC Gamer

I totally agree! Might as well take advantage of them while you can! Haha!

          • Jason Mounce

Take advantage of them once, at the same time, they’re plotting to try to take advantage of you 5 times in a row like a series of deadly traps! *Shifty eyes*

          • Not A PC Gamer

haha, so effing true.. it’s beyond words!

          • cubs223425

Yeah, I am able to find everything I want without using that spybot known as Google, and I get stuff for it.

          • Not A PC Gamer

Spybot? You must be talking about all of Microsoft’s services. I’d rather use google than use anything related to MS ever again.. And quite frankly I love google services and my android phone.

          • Jason Mounce

I feel the same. I hear enough negative rep from Microsofts’ choices on X1 alone whether many are reversed or otherwise. The point is, they ‘Try’ these tactics, and they clearly won’t stop, they’ll just do it a bit more under the table rather than do it in the open. Corporate arrogance like what Sony showed during 2006 w/ PS3.

          • Not A PC Gamer

Totally agree.. After their abysmal reveal which proves to me at least that the X1 is a console for them not us and their initial policies which basically treated us like criminals.. I just don’t trust them anymore. I could say so much more but I don’t want to bore you.. Besides, you sound to me like you know about all of their blunders already. Their 180′s just make them look weak IMO.

          • Jason Mounce

Yea, I keep track of everything gaming-news related xD It’s alright.

I’m more of a PC/PS Gamer. Got a 360 just for Lost Odyssey when I could get an Arcade model for $99 and same would go true for X1 if they INFACT get an exclusive that isn’t a Timed exclusive that is of similar quality to that. I go for Hidden-gems or games that make the console stand out. Gamecube is a prime example of that. Everything else I can usually get on PC, and if not that? PS hardware because their internal studios and the quality of them all trample over the competition (In my opinion) as Nintendos’ prime days are over until they too get their act together.

Whether related or unrelated to corporations going down under. It’s how I similarly feel about Nintendo and companies like Blizzard, where they were GREAT and awesome but then, after ‘success’ struck them numerous times, they seem to fall short, lose sight of their origins and become bloated, greedy and dull. Nintendo lost face from Wii success and keeps riding on nostalgia rather than innovate at the same quality as the NES-to-N64 era and Diablo 3 showed me Blizzards reign was going downhill form WoW’s success. Especially since Blizzard North was taken down and most of the staff responsible for Diablo left. Sony followed the same traits but what makes them commendable is that they Lost face to arrogance with the PS2′s success, then slowly regained their roots a few years after PS3′s launch. 2008/9+ has been ALL about the gamers and PS4 is all about the gamers and consumers. They deserve props for switching their routine before turning into a Microsoft. Never underestimate the intelligence of consumers in a form of macro-sociology.

          • cubs223425

Yeah, I had an Android phone once. After 2 years, 1 meaningful update, and wretched performance, I went with a Lumia 920, which I haven’t had any legitimate issues with after a year. Heck, I’m even supposed to be getting a THIRD major update soon because Windows Phone isn’t a fragmented mess when it comes to software updates.

          • Jason Mounce

I would usually see people say it the other way around :l

Oh well, people can use whatever they want :P I ain’t hating. Though I seem to be getting strange amounts of thumb-downs be an illusive stalker/lurker.

  • Damian Wayne

notice how they both say “more info” instead of add to cart? Basically, they had more PS4 bundles than Xbox bundles, since they both did sell out. The true test of popularity will come when they are both readily available in stock. I’m not trying to defend the XBone (I bought a PS4), I’m just pointing out the misleading nature of the argument.

    • Giuseppe Nelva

Only, the ranking is not just for online sales. The bundle is currently is unavailable only online as it says very clearly under the name of the item.

      No misleading around here.

    • KuchikiSentou

There’s no argument about the level of popularity; simply the clear fact that it’s ranked higher; therefore sold more.

  • MasterDay

The price , the price, the evil price.

    • Rick_Deckard

      The evil Kinect too??

      • MasterDay

Yes, true. But I prefer Xone .
I must be the only one in Spain :)

        • KuchikiSentou

Spain is not as bad as Germany for X1 fans. Xbox has a bigger fanbase in Spain than Germany and France certainly.

  • OnlyWar

    switch to PS4
