Xbox One Tops “Most Wished For” Chart on Amazon, PS4 Second, Wii U Ranked 37th Just Before Christmas

by on December 17, 2013 1:43 PM 17

Yesterday we reported about the Xbox One ranking 6th on the Amazon “most gifted” list, but as the holidays approach people also use the wish list intensively in order to let their loved ones know what they’d like for Christmas.

Amazon.com also has a “Most Wished” ranking, and the one for games is definitely interesting.

The Xbox One is at the top of the chart, beating the PS4 narrowly, as Sony’s new console is ranked second at the moment of this writing. The Wii U is ranked 37th with it’s Super Mario 3D World bundle, the PS Vita follows suit in 39th place with the Amazon Exclusive Holiday Walking Dead Bundle. The Xbox 360 is 51st with its Holiday Value Bundle, while the PS3 is ranked 100th with the 500 GB Grand Theft Auto V Bundle, barely making the charts. The 3DS doesn’t appear.

Looking at accessories for next current generation consoles the DualShock 4 is ranked 22nd, beating the Xbox One controller, which is ranked 33rd.

PS4 and Xbox One games aren’t very popular yet. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for PS4 leads the charge in 42nd place, followed by Dead Rising 3 for Xbox One in 44th.

What about you? Do you ever use your Amazon wish list? What did you put in it?

I use my wishlist to watch for price drops on everything I would buy if the price were dropped. It’s convenient.

If that’s what most people use it for, this is probably not great news for the Xbone. It isn’t on my wishlist, because I just don’t care, and I already have a PS4.

PS4 is second place so if people really do what you do , then its not great news for both systems .
but i guess its not like that i use my wish list for the stuff i wish i have that’s why i have X1 and PS4 on my list :)

      • oGMo

Not really, it just means that most people already have a PS4.

        • Liam Hall

Not really, the demand for both are about the same.

People should go to Mexico, nobody is buying this damn thing, and is practically the same price 499 bucks!, meanwhile the PS4 is sold out everywhere!

    • https://www.youtube.com/ButtonBros TheRedButterfly

PS4 is sold out because Sony is having supply issues… And not the “we can’t keep it on the shelf” issues, the “we can’t get it to the shelves” issues.

  • You are flat out wrong

There are big piles of the things in many stores, no need to wish when you can easily go out and buy one. :)

where is the source of this info? I doubt that this is true, specially 3DS not even ranking? Fool Me!

Advice to anyone who hasn’t bought a PS4 yet: Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Killzone are poor games, after that, there isn’t really much to write home about. And DVD and Blu-ray playback doesn’t seem to be as good as the PS3 (the PS4 Blu-ray drive makes an annoying noise). As for the PS4 controller, it looks and feels a bit cheaper than the PS3 controller, but as always with PS controllers, the buttons don’t hold up to shooters and fighters, more so the shoulder buttons. Can’t comment on the One as I’ve not played on one. But the PS4 is very over hyped. It’ll be neck and neck up against the One, but I think the One will just edge it. But only if the One drops to the same price as the PS4 (a console only pack).

I’ve only heard good things about the PS4 controllers. While I’ve only briefly had hands on one (as I do not yet own a PS4) I can say that it feels a bit more ergonomic than my PS3′s Dual Shock 3. The Xbox 360 has, I think, the most comfortable controllers for any console I’ve owned, but the Dual Shock analog stick placement is preferable over what the Xbox controllers use. If the Dual Shock 4 is as good as I’ve been hearing, I may consider it the best controller yet … But how something “feels” is entirely subjective. Your mileage may vary.

As for the games on the PS4 … There’s nothing there making me wish for a PS4 just yet. I was unimpressed with the PS3 exclusives. Drakes games were good but not great; and I didn’t really dig Little Big Planet, Killzone, or Infamous … I didn’t get to try Last of Us before the Xbox 360 exclusives and multi-platform games retired my PS3 from all but Blu-ray movie viewing … Okay, my son likes Pain too. Anyway, to get back on point here, when you weren’t really feeling the PS3 exclusives, you’re not really invested in those franchises; and PS4 isn’t really give me anything else to get excited about (yet). Make no mistake, I’ll eventually get a PS4; but no rush …

Interesting perspective. I can’t agree about the DS4; it’s the best controller I’ve ever used and I’ve been gaming for 30 plus years. Time will tell regarding durability, but it fixes every gripe I’ve had with the DS line of controllers dating back to the original DS on the PS1. The PS4 hasn’t replaced my PS3 as my main BD player only because SCE hasn’t released a media remote for it yet. I can’t agree that the XB1 will edge out the PS4 in sales, or that it will be sold at the same price with a Kinect free SKU.

With the shift to same-day-as-release digital download availability on consoles, I suspect that games purchases and “wishes” in Amazon will go down over the next decade for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. I haven’t got a PS4 yet, but I have no intention of complicating my Xbox One experience with disc-based games. Switching quickly between a few games (and television, and Web browsing) is fast and easy on the Xbox One; and it would be much less so if I had to get up and switch discs every time I changed games. It would take one heck of a retailer-exclusive deal to make me buy a disc-based game again.

    no one wants a ps3.5.

    how can u blame them?

  • ataqueninja

Wii U at Amazon is sold at a higher price than normal (for some random reason, they don’t get console from Nintendo), so this comparison is completely unfair for the Wii U.

    What a difference a week makes…

    PS4: 6th, was 8th a few days ago
Xbone: 18th, also 18th a few days ago.

So much for those small mercies, eh, Xdrones?
