Nobunaga’s Ambition Devs: Easy to Reach 60 FPS on PS4, “Highest Peak” of Current Game Consoles

Today we reported that Nobunaga’s Ambition: Creation will run at 1080p and 60 frames per second on PS4 when it’ll be released in Japan on February the 22nd, and today Producers Ko Shibusawa and Kenichi Ogasawara shared more information on their work on Sony’s new console in an interview on Famitsu.

Shibusawa-san was asked why the team chose to develop a game like Nobunaga’s Ambition: Creation for PS4:

The first reason is that we’d like PS4 users to be able to enjoy Nobunaga’s Ambition: Creation as well. Secondly, we always want to challenge the newest technology and support the newest game consoles. Since PS4 is the highest peak of current game consoles, we’d like to release something new to support it.

Ogasawara-san was also asked if it was difficult to achieve a framerate of 60 FPS on PS4:

No, I was able to have most of the game running at 60 fps from the very beginning. Only a few parts had to be tweaked. The PS3 version had to be considerably adjusted and squeezed around to make it work [at 30 FPS], but for the PS4 version the process was simple.

Since it moves so smoothly, we can use development time for other things. The PS4 is a really an easy console to develop for. If we had developed Nobunaga’s Ambition: Creation for PS4 from the beginning, I think we could have challenged an even superior representation. We felt the measure of its potential.

Ogasawara-san also explained his opinion on the difference between 60 FPS and 30:

Since I’ve also worked on action games so far, I’m very aware on the difference in feeling and gameplay impression between 30 and 60 FPS. With the PS4 version of Nobunaga’s Ambition: Creation, while the systems of the game are the same as the PS3, I think the feelings of immersion and realism have grown considerably. It leads to an improvement of how dynamic and dramatic it is.

Personally, I always loved the concept of the Nobunaga’s Ambition franchise, not to mention its setting. Its developers seem to have great confidence on the PS4 version of the game. Could this be a chance for the series to come west?

I guess a man can dream, can’t he?

60 FPS only on PC and PS4 (WiiU) excluding xbox 720p

The game hasn’t been announced from Xbox at all. Nor for Wii U. On PC it doesn’t have a set framerate.

My point was that most games on xbone are at 30 FPS while they are at 60 FPS on WiiU, PC (If you have a good PC) and PS4. But I guess it was a bit stupid to post that comment here.

Not true for PC – even at 1080p a GTX Titan (flying solo) can’t do Crysis 3 at 60fps with _all_ of the graphics maxed out and the best anti-aliasing, and the vast majority of PCs run with far less horsepower. Yes, you _can_ have 60fps and more on everything on PC, but you have to pay through the nose for it, and it’s by no means guaranteed on just a ‘good’ PC ;).
