Itagaki Confirms Devil’s Third Release for 2014; The Game is 80% Complete, Looks Finished

Not much information has surfaced lately about the status of the new title by legendary developer Tomonobu Itagaki Devil’s Third, but today the creator of the Dead or Alive series gave an update in an interview on 4Gamer.

Next year is the year we’ll launch our title Devil’s Third. At the moment the game is 80% complete and it looks finished. However I’m still polishing it further. That’s why I became independent. I would like to apologize for worrying our fans. Next year we’ll release it for sure, so stay tuned.

It’s good to hear that the game is so far along in development, and hopefully we’ll hear and see more about it in the next few months. I remember having my curiosity piqued by Devil’s Third when I first heard about it, and it’ll be interesting to see how much it changed in the meanwhile.

i remember it’s only digital for the PS3 and 360 consoles.

glad it’s moving along. i wonder what’s his next project?

NInja Gaiden like game or a fighting game? his company should join From Software and make Ninja Blade 2 🙂

    my body is ready.

Hey when this guy says he is polishing something HE MEANS IT. let him have all the time he needs and let him have the creative freedom to make use of it as he sees fit.

    • how Dead or Alive 3 NTSC and Ninja Gaiden 2 were definitely polished.

i can’t believe after 2013 (now entering 2014) people are still being a Itagaki fanboy and sucking up to his ass all the time:/

      bloody Gaming Industry

Wasn’t he already at odds with Techmo when Ninja Gaiden 2 released?

      • jakdripr

In his defence he was already falling out tecmo when NG 2 was released so that might have been part of the reason why the game was riddled with bugs and felt incomplete.

        • so one man can now make a big game like Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden?
you guys need to start expanding your mind in thinking.

even Itagaki himself as stopped the whole “without me this is nothing”, “i make this and that”.

let’s just wait for the game to come out.

One man can’t make a game I never said that, but one man can make a difference especially when you’re talking about the creative director. I mean just look at ninja gaiden 3, look at DmC, look at resident evil 6, all these games that went south when the creative director dipped.

Not taking anything away from the coders and designers that work on these games but you also can’t overstate how important a director that knows what he’s doing is.

          • taking away coders and designers do make a different.
Just look at Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 compared to Ninja Gaiden 2. Or DmC to Devil May Cry.

but what does it matter now away. I will forget this.

    Awesome awaits !!!!

  • Stranger On The Road

80% complete? Then please release some details about it, what the flip is this game? Did they announce some details about it and I some how missed it?

P.S. Itagaki-sensei, if you decide to make something like Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 then you will have my full support. The pervert inside had to add this!

Considering right next to this article is a link to an article claiming “Devil’s third slated for 2013 release, like for real’ i’ll believe it when I see it. Show me some gameplay itagaki, I wanna believe you but you’ve let me down too many times in the past 3 years for me to believe anything you say until I have some concrete proof.

As a die hard Ninja Gaiden BLACK fan I glade this game is coming to PC! Itagaki gets a lot of unnecessary haterad he doesn’t even bad mouth other developers, save for that DMC creator who dissed his game without playing it. But they made up.

Itagaki doesn’t BS! that’s why NGB was go good.

I put him next to Johnathan blow as Dev’s I look up to for inspiration!
