Nintendo had a New Year sale scheduled for the Japanese market on January 1st and January 2nd, promising a 30% discount on games, but due to the problems currently affecting the marketplace, the publisher from Kyoto decided to postpone the sale.
In addition to that connection to the Nintendo 3DS e-Shop in Japan is currently available only between 6 AM and 6 PM (A similar measure has been applied to the North American e-shop as well).
At the moment there’s no announced schedule for the sale, and Nintendo mentioned that further information will be provided via Twitter. This actually brings up the question on how long the problems will continue before a full solution is found, considering that the postponed sale was scheduled to happen in four days.
We’ll keep you updated if any further announcement will be made, but a full resolution of the issue doesn’t seem to be too close at hand for the moment.
Update: the official Nintendo Twitter account for Japan mentioned that today the company is going to try and leave the e-shop open after the previously announced 6 PM closing time on a trial basis, but warned customers that further downtime is possible if more problems were to occur.
