PS4 Exclusive Deep Down Gets New Fantastic Screenshots, Info on the Mimic Monster and More

by on January 6, 2014 4:25 AM 28

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia and Capcom released today three new screenshots of the PS4 Exclusive Deep Down, and some new information on the monsters we’ll fight as well.

The Jackie (above), that we already heard about before, mimics the shape of a treasure chest in the dungeons. When it detects a target it extends arms and legs quickly and bites with a mouth decorated by an enormous number of sharp tusks. Damage is inevitable, no matter how resilient your armor is, so you have to be careful when you open chests.

In the screenshot above we also get a nice glimpse on the game’s greatswords.

The Pooriiz (below) is normally attached to the ceilings of dungeons, like a caterpillar, it moves and rotates it rounded body and attacks in swarms. They become a serious threat when in large numbers, so you need to attack them one by one before you get surrounded.

although f2p if this is naything liek dark souls i will hate it i like rpgs but not rpgs with doom nightmare mode diffculty

  • Bankai

I can already tell that the Pooriiz and I aren’t going to get along.

  • Furious Francis

My only issue with this game is that its free to play with Microtransactions

Why can’t they make it a full RPG then charge for DLC down the line?

    • arleo09 .

Not enough money for a full develpoment ?

      • Jason Mounce

Made by Capcom, is a new IP, they likely doubt it’ll be successful.

Capcom didn’t give a good budget to the team that made Dragon’s Dogma, and Capcom admitted in saying that they didn’t think it’d sell well, expected it to flop, they had underestimated the team behind it. I think they’re doing the same thing here, Capcom doesn’t even trust their own team with new IP’s whilst they pump out and milk their primary series to death with eerie confidence that they’ll do well like Resident Evil. Lol

        • Thomas James

Well you would be right here except Sony is funding this game just like how Microsoft funded Dead Rising 3.

          • Jason Mounce

Similarly, Sony funded Demon’s Souls in Japan and had doubted that Demon’s Souls would’ve been such a success, which is why they did not fund Dark Souls as Bandai instead picked up the ‘series’ so to speak, simply with Sony owning the title or ‘quote on quote’ Series of ‘Demon’s Souls’ itself at the end of the day.

If Sony too can underestimate a game they’re funding, I’ll firmly still believe in my prior post or in similar logic XD

      Couple Questions:
Can’t you just buy $60 dollars worth of content?
Isn’t it better to try before you buy?
Whats wrong with the ability to only pay for the content you’re interested in?

F2P and microtransactions have their benefits, ppl are too quick to bash it

      • Clate

MOST F2P games suck. There are some really good ones though

        • Daniel Dorestant

Well thats an opinion, I’m just talking about facts…
The fact is you can play a game for free, and spend only what you want to spend on it. I don’t see why ppl hate on that concept so much, especially before they even try the game

          • chitown

Because history tells us that it usually sucks. And Capcom is one of the worst offenders.

          • Daniel Dorestant

History tells us that they’re usually successful, therefore ppl are enjoying F2p games… If a business model fails companies abandon it, F2p is doing just fine.

Saying something sucks is an opinion, that doesn’t prove anything

I know this might be hard to believe but the f2p haters on the Internet only represent a small portion of gamers. The ones voting with their wallets and enjoying F2p games are the majority. History shows they love f2p

          • Clate

F2P overall is not any more profitable than regular retail. Most people do not buy anything.

          • Daniel Dorestant

I didnt say it was more profitable, I said that it is profitable, otherwise companies would stop using the f2p model. As far most ppl not buying anything, no offense but without any concrete evidence thats just an assumption on your part

          • Clate

Multiple developers have said this…… Rockstar did not to long ago

          • Daniel Dorestant

Multiple developers have also said more customers are spending money, theyve even said their overall revenue is higher. DCUO devs being one of them

          • Clate

That is basically what I said in a comment above. People should not gripe and just be glad they can try it for free

    • Clate

Free to Play does not definitely ruin a game. Just be glad you can try it free

      • chitown

But it often does. Nothing worse that “trying it for free” only to learn that the only way to play it viably is to spend $80+ on crap. F2P is usually just a poorly masked alternative to a paywall. The servers for this game better be second to none…

        • Clate

Warframe and Planetside 2 are amazing Free to Play games and do not force you to buy anything

I don’t want to allow myself to get excited for this game, considering it’s Crapcom behind it. They’ve fallen so far into the pits over the years, and let every top franchise of theirs slip into hell. Plus they are money grubbing wh0res ontop of that, which is partially why lots of their IPs are crap now. Saving money by outsourcing nonstop, and not using common sense about which direction to take their games has left them in the hole they’re in now. I can’t have faith in them to not screw this up somehow, whether it be that the game just turns out to be sloppy in the end, or the microtransactions are setup to completely rip us off, there’s gonna be some annoying catch to it I’m sure. It does look nice though.

CAPCOM have knocked out so many crap to average games in their history. But after the PS2, they got worse. Hanging on with Street Fighter 4, I think there’s been 4 or 5 versions of that game. But anyone with any sense and experience, will agree that screen shots and footage of a game doesn’t really prove much. As this game is by CAPCOM, I’d be very wary….

    • Fawst

      Two words: Dragon’s Dogma.

  • Guest

Looks disappointing and F2P. A definite PASS.

  • lucs009

free to play is awesome!!! all the ps3 games were free to play

  • Acesonnall

But these aren’t amazing at all. These look really compressed.
