Titanfall Direct Feed Alpha Gameplay Video Shows Weapons, Options and a Lot of Action

A new video from the alpha of Titanfall has surfaced, giving a great overview on the weapons and equipment options of soldiers and titans, not to mention a glimpse on a lot of frantic action. As an added bonus the video is direct feed and the game is played by someone that can actually hit something, which is surprisingly rare in leaked videos of unreleased games.

You can check it out below, courtesy of Fast Kill Squad. Remember that this is an alpha technical test, not a demo, so the graphics and gameplay you’ll be seeing aren’t representative of the final product. Take it as a partial glimpse on the future for those that didn’t get invited and nothing more.

Update: the original video has since been removed from Facebook, but below you can find an alternative upload of the same clip.

Update 2: A second clip has also been added courtesy of Shyakuguan. (Thank’s PS360HD for the tip!)

Looking forward to trying this out myself.

It looks fun…. But it really does looks like Call of duty mechs

Halo seems to be better to me

    • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

what part looks like call of duty?? Guns, custom classes and it’s FPS? Does that mean any game with those features is now call of duty with (fill in the blank)???? Honestly, it is the dumbest thing I have ever heard …. the movement speeds are much faster, the weapon mechanics are far different, the tiering on the levels is far different, the agility of pilots (thanks to the jetpack and speed), titans, color palette … literally there isn’t much that I can even think of that IS the same … but i guess it’s easier to type thoughtlessly than to actually make a statement, with supporting facts.

      • Daniel Dorestant

        First of all I didn’t downvote…. Relax

Please tell me how you surmised the weapon mechanics, lvl tiering, and color palette is different? I would post a COD video for a side by side but why…. I dont have to prove my opinion to you

        • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

1.) so what call of duty game has multilevel buildings and towers all of which you can access the uppermost levels of??
2.) the weapon mechanics are different because you have to carry two sets of weapons, one for killing pilots, one for titans, and also due to that weapons sometimes fall in between that line. It’s far more different mechanics than COD, at least in comparison to any other FPS shooter.
3.) last look at the video below and compare.

But I get it, you think you are a right, so do I, but again at least I provide reasons/facts for it. the best you could do was try to deny SOME of my points, even then to no avail. My question is what FPS game is not like COD with (fill in the blank) in your eyes. What makes it different and contrast those differences with what this brings. You will see you are going to be struck to find differences … where as this game it’s relatively easy to point out MAJOR differences. I am not saying you have to like this game (as I really don’t like it that much either), but I am also not making unfounded comments on every titanfall article either. (like ahem*you*ahem)

          • cozomel

Wow! you’re really into this game, relax buddy, its just a simple FPS with bots, whoopdidoo. Same old sh!t

          • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

No just tired of idiots, just like you. Again not a single fact represented, instead you try to make me look crazy or overly concerned, which I am not, but just tired of every single game that come out being called this is just (blank) with (blank)… I really am just done here you guys are seriously the biggest f*cking idiots I have ever seen. You just oversensationalize everything you say to get votes….

          • Jkwakopo

chillax buddy… are you on something? lol

This game looks great. Yeah old cod team developed so it may have similarities. However, this game looks fun! I might just get Xbone just to play this game… Most of my friends got Xbone so it might worth playing with them. Maybe i’ll play on my pc …

          • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

no, again tired of opinions being > than facts, and everyone blindly believing them … this game looks ok, not to interested … doesn’t mean that idiot fanboys are right. However, you and them believe what you will. Thanks for the life story though.

The fact you support cozumel (I’ll just hope you have no clue who he is) show either ignorance or idiocracy.

          • Daniel Dorestant

            Get a life

          • You are flat out wrong

Maybe if you weren’t shilling for another derivative online whackamole you wouldn’t take it so personally.

          • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

yea, that makes total sense …. you name is totally fitting for you. At least you gave me warning.

          • You are flat out wrong

You are, though. Either that or you’re acting defensively towards said only whackamole because it’s the only game Drones have on the Xbone until Halo 5.

            Ah jealousy

          • Daniel Dorestant

What are you talking about “on every Titanfall article”? Check my comment history… I mostly ignore this game

Once again… This is my opinion… And running around, snapping necks and twitch shooting ppl is COD

          • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

Love mech games, not really seeing anything amazing about this one tho

I’m sorry but 6vs6 is pathetic

TitanFall Won’t Have Mod Support at Launch:
“Evaluate” …pretty much not gonna happen
So basically avoid the question and claim opinion > fact … cool.

          • Daniel Dorestant

Sooooo 3 comments…. In the last few weeks…

Im not avoiding your question… I have no interest in answering it…
            My opinion is set bro

For some reason you thimk I have something to prove to you… Truth is I doooont caaaare

          • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

you don’t care enough to actually compile yuour own opinions, yet you care enough to blindly post them? … sounds about normal, for most of you n4g hoppers.

      • Joshua Rizk

I found it reminded me of COD a lot. Not that it’s a bad thing. The movement (running, jummping, wall-jumping) is definitely faster, I don’t know how to explain it, but the 60fps looks really close to how the animations are in COD than in BF.

I think the reload animations and look of guns are like MW series a lot. the Main primary assault rifle looks close to the ACR from MW2 to me. the sound of the footstep running on the ground and sound of guns sounds like COD more than games like Halo or BF. Then there’s the killcam almost identical.

Of course it’s a very different game. It definitely feels unique and sets itself apart from the COD series. BUT you can tell that it is a spiritual successor to the series and feels like a Vince Zampella game and players who like playing COD are going to enjoy this game.

        • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

ok sorry so footstep sounds, it has guns, custom classes, it’s a FPS, and killcam … that covers about every single FPS made in the last 10 years. Didn’t realize every FPS I played all these years were just COD in disguise, because surely no game did any of that before COD, and surely any game that does it henceforth IS COD … but yea, definitely a COD clone with mechs…

          • Joshua Rizk

well no. because battlefield’s killcam doesn’t show you the last 4 seconds up to your death. it shows where your killer is currently located. so does Killzone.

I never said because it has guns. I said the primary weapon looks similar to the one in cod with better textures and detail

they look closer to me than the BF ACR does.

There’s more similarities between COD and Titanfall than BF and Titanfall. Again, I’m saying it’s not a bad thing

and yes Tomb raider is an uncharted with a girl but it is also more explorable etc. Nothing wrong with that. Every good song these days takes elements and inspiration from the best that came before it. Same with books, same with films. It’s called innovation. If it wasn’t for the original tomb raider, Uncharted may not have existed and if Uncharted never existed perhaps the reboot of the new tomb raider wouldn’t have existed.

Just like Fallout 3 is Oblivion but in a post-apocalyptic setting. They were made by the same developers so you expect the games to have the same ‘spirit’ and feel to it. Just because the founders of Infinity Ward, left Activision doesn’t mean they’re going to make a game that is completely left field. They know what makes a good FPS and they’re going to use their expertise and experience and apply it to their games.

Let me re-iterate by saying it’s not COD which you keep beating the drum about that’s not what i’m saying it’s far from it. But there are little things you can see that are Vince Zampella’s trademark and that’s totally fine.

          • Joshua Rizk

Another example I can think of is Dying Light and Dead Island. Both made by techland.

Again, the movement and a lot of elements are very different that set them both apart. But I played both and you can tell the makers of Dead Island made this game. Combat felt similar, zombies behaved in a certain way. But I wouldn’t say it’s ZombiU

    • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

      I know right:

Uncharted is tomb raider with a guy, infamous is crackdown with a hippie, the order is gears of war with an 1886 setting, deep down is dark souls with sh*ttier everything, killzone is COD (already covered that above apparently), battlefield is COD, basically just any game that made a genre popular is the only game that can have it’s own identity the rest are just fakes.

EDIT: Oh and my favorite, Destiny is just borderlands with a Bungie sticker on it … because only the overall scheme matter, none of the details, no matter how different.

  • duddeer389r38

this looks like same old boring call of duty that comes out every year BUT WITH MECHS OOOMMMGGGG…. snooze fest here nothing to see…

    • That 8 minute clip looked more entertaining than most of my 40 hours plus spent with BF4 on PS4.

    • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

As I said to others saying this, I know right:

Uncharted is tomb raider with a guy, infamous is crackdown with a hippie, the order is gears of war with an 1886 setting, deep down is dark souls with sh*ttier everything, killzone is COD (already covered that above apparently), battlefield is COD, basically just any game that made a genre popular is the only game that can have it’s own identity the rest are just fakes.

      • Bankai

Except there are little to no similarities between any of the games you compared.

        • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

There are PLENTY of similarities especially tomb raider and uncharted … much more so than COD and titanfall, my point is similarities don’t make it the same game with (blah blah blah)

  • Solid Snake

erm looks like it involves no kind of team work whatsoever.

    • Aaron A

If it did, it wouldn’t be successful on consoles.

  • cozomel

Im sorry but this is nothing more than a FPS. And even worst with bots! that is just pathetic! Anybody who thinks that 6v6 with (a bunch of dumb as rocks) bots is somehow impressive. Is just sad! You dumb @$$ fanboy just keep being taken for a loop. Its a freaking FPS with bots! Thats lame! And the graphics look just like CODs, weak!

    • Morris ヅ

      dont hate

    • Joshua Collin

If you actually played the game then you would know why 6v6 is a great idea. What, do you want 64 players? That would make 64 titans and 64 players in the game at once. The game is perfectly balanced as it is and i’m sorry you can’t see past your ignorance. Also, the graphics are running at 25% for the Alpha but i’m sure you didn’t know that part.

      • cozomel

You mean the textures are running supposedly at 25% the res of the final product (we’ll see). And no i dont need it to have 64players, but 6v6!! That’s just to low. And what is even worst to me is the fact that it has bots, i freaking hate bots, HELLS NO!!!! And i aint hating, im just not even remotely impressed. You people hyped this game up to be all that and just set it up for a letdown in my book

        • Texazzpete

It was announced at E3 as an FPS
Shown at GamesCom as an FPS
Showed at PaX as an FPS
Made by a studio that’s famous for their FPS games.

And you’re here telling us in 2014 that “hey guys it’s an FPS”?

Go back under the rock you’ve been living under. Such lack to creativity in your trolling to be slamming an entire genre. Do you go to articles on a new Eminem album with the “it’s a freaking rap album!” line?

    • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

I wonder how many alt accounts you have (I know it is at least three based on past experiences with you) but I just see ABSOLUTELY no way that you could have 5 people agree with you, let alone 10+ on every one of your comments.

  • Opt1kon

The game looks better then expected my only grip is that its not going to be released on the PS4 so everyone can join in on the fun, it makes me think of what EA said a while back about them having a surprise game for the PS4 systems hopefully they come threw with that promise, which i highly doubt none the less it looks good

    • Ps4stinks

      Ps4 sucks my pinky toe

      • DaveyF’nJones

Your Xboner must be smaller than your pinkie toe. Typical Xbot.

  • Zerosion

You know people, there is an old saying, if you don’t have anything thats constructive to say. Don’t say it.

  • You are flat out wrong

So after weeks of fanboy denial that it isn’t like Call of Duty it is, in fact, exactly like Call of Duty.

    • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

In what ways? Please explain. You seem really convinced, so you must have some reason, especially seeing as you felt the need to go through this entire comment section downvoting that doesn’t meet your exact views.. (numbered list would be nice, so we can keep organized)

      • You are flat out wrong

Watched a couple vids. All I could think of is Cowadoody with 6×6 with bots instead of 64×64 so casuals can feel good about hacking down rubbish AI vectors. I was thinking about how much better it would be with Battlefield-style environment destruction and vehicles that actually felt like you were piloting a massive war machine.

No wonder the journalists loved it shooting bots that just stood there letting them think they were red hot. “B-but it’s an alpha!” “B-but they’ll patch it!”

        • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

So basically, nothing, thought so … P.S. moron BF4 is 32v32, and only in one mode. and what would be the good of destruction, you would have nothing at all after about 5 minutes.

          • You are flat out wrong

Yeah, stick your fingers in your ears and live in denial of the factors that will make Titanflop dull two weeks after release.

Yes, I am aware of that. I managed to mix the two up because I haven’t played them for years. Funny how it all blurs into an indiscernable mess given time.

          • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

I actually am not too worried about titanfall. Looks good, but it’s an FPS so not all that exciting, but seeing as ghosts and BF4 were garbage it will be nice to have a decent shooter in the back log.

  • Chillbrah

Titanflop makers will always wonder “if we had only put this game on PS4”

    • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

then what? according to all you PS4 guys this game “sucks and you would never buy it.” Now if it were on PS4 you suddenly think it is GOTY? Funny how that works. It’s called jealousy and or remorse.

      • You are flat out wrong

Bigger market + not being tied to a malignant console like the Xbone.

I still wouldn’t think much of it, same as I don’t think much of Evolve, plus I wouldn’t have to put up with Xdrones insisting it’s GOTY 2014.

        • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

So, every single journalist are XDrones? … explain please … I mean over 100 awards in just a few months. Record amount of awards at E3. That said I would agree it is not GOTY, but surely neither is infamous, which you sony drones keep hounding about. Game looks boring and bland and the previous games were nothing special either.
Plus if you are going to log into multiple accounts, try to stay logged into the same ones when you comment….

          • You are flat out wrong

Every unskilled journalist fell in love with shooting a bunch of bots so they can feel good about themselves, you mean.

This whole game is an exercise in box ticking to suit casual tastes in every way. It’ll be a massive success, alas.

          • Nick TwinkleToes Setzer

well considering “casuals” buy 30 million copies of call of duty yearly, I would say it’s a pretty good market to target. Again though, at least they are targeting a large audience … who is infamous targeting by that theory then?

          • You are flat out wrong

If yet another brown and beige running around in circles simulator does that well then we’re long overdue for an industry crash.

    • Sean Mesler

      Is that even necessary?

  • Boerewors

Curious bout how the 360 version will shape up to be….it isn’t developed in house I heard. This won’t make me buy an X1…. But it seriously made me want one for a few minutes (still boycotting Xbox for not releasing here 🙁 )
I never been much of an fps kinda guy, but this is somehow making me wanna play all day long!

  • Pride82

Before the flame war begins. I own ps4 and xbox one and a decent pc!!
I love shooters and open world games.

Iv always been a bit of a cod fanboy but baring black ops 1 and cod 4 the rest have made me hate the franchise and the corner camping quick scoping and glitch hunting kids that plague the series has ruined what used to be an amazing game series peaked with the first modern warfare I think.

As for this I was so exited watching the e3 demo and it looks nice and fluid, fast moving and smooth but the brain dead bots and 6v6 have put a lot of doubt in my mind and watching the video I’m sure it’s gunna fill up with strafe jumping bunny hopping and no doubt roof camping kids hogging bot kills come the games general release. Not to mention the inevitable quickscoping mechanic!

I dunno seems like this game had massive potential and while I’m still interested I think ill stick with battlefield 4 and diablo 3 (when the ps4 release arrives)

Looking forward to destiny and the division and DayZ call of duty needs to create a new engine and ditch things like quickscoping before I pick their games up again as for this ill hang on for a few reviews to compare as it does look like cod with mechs…… (Same mechanics with sticky walls jet packs and a brighter palette)

  • Bankai

I’m still not seeing the appeal, it looks like what you’d get if Starhawk and Call of Duty spent a drunken night together. I’m guessing the mechs were thrown in in an attempt to hide the games mediocrity.

  • blastx

HAHa as Joshua Rizk said i noticed it too. It has almost the same fast paced animations from CoD, running, reloading, Its not a bad thing. I like it. But it’s interesting to see the devs retained something from CoD. BF4 is a pile of crap. This looked alot more exciting that BF4 boring bugged sht ever will be.

  • bowserslovechild

Holy smokes, it’s salty up in here…….

  • Escopablobar

I really wish this game had a legitimate single player campaign. I like the concept and the gameplay does look different enough from the rest of the FPS pack. I just don’t play multiplayer. I am going to have to wait until Halo comes out to justify buying the X1.

  • You are flat out wrong

Alas, this game will be mega successful and all MP FPS this gen will have small player numbers and bots everywhere. Thanks, Respawn.

  • klarax

looked alright, i liked the get anywhere you want quickly.

i didnt like loading time, and what i saw, seemed to be get titan as fast as possible. First team to do so wins. It will be an ok game. i want to know how many maps it has though
