Release Date for PS Vita Version of Borderlands 2 Announced by 2K: Tweets Get Immediately Deleted (UPDATED)

by on January 21, 2014 6:22 AM 5

Today 2K Games tweeted the release date of Borderlands 2 for PS Vita as March 18th, but afterwards immediately deleted the tweet, leaving us with the doubt on whether it was a mistake or just an announcement that wasn’t ready for disclosure.

The original tweet, that could be found at this url said:

#Borderlands2 is coming to #PSVita on March 18th! RT!

The picture tweeted alongside the announcement is still available at the link, and you can see it at the top of the post. Similar tweets on local accounts of the publisher (like the German one for instance) were deleted as well.

We don’t yet know why the tweets have been deleted, but we reached out to 2K Games for a clarification on the issue, and we’ll let you know if we receive any relevant info.

Update: 2K Games tweeted again with the following messagea:

We apologise for a tweet about a release date for Borderlands 2 on Vita which was posted in error. The release date mentioned is incorrect.
We’re sorry for any confusion this may have caused. For more info on Borderlands 2 on Vita please follow @playstation & @GearboxSoftware.

I believe this date was announced somewhere a few weeks ago. Perhaps not officially, but I do know this date has at least been flying around the rumour-mill.

Perhaps they’re not sure whether the game will actually be ready by that point.

Terrible time to release. So many games will overshadow this port sadly.

Agreement. Hopefully the tweet was deleted because this isn’t the final release date, and they’re thinking of pushing it back to April.

Well said! I also want to buy Final Fantasy HD Remaster that month.

      • AttentionDeficitKing

Indeed! And don’t forget Danganronpa and Toukiden the month before – and that’s just Vita games! Other big releases in Feb/March include Bravely Default, MGSV, Infamous: Second Son, Tales of Symphonia HD, Dark Souls II, Lightning Returns, Thief, Yoshi’s New Island…

Quite frankly, putting out a year-and-a-half old port on a system selling less than spectacularly during that timeframe would be a death sentence.
