Microsoft Game Studios President Phil Spencer is very confident in the ability of Black Tusk Studios to restore the glory of the Gears of War franchise, but it’ll be a while until we see the results on our consoles, as he mentioned today on Twitter:
Leadership team has been involved for a month but studio has only been on Gears for a week.
Spencer also said that ultimately it’s Microsoft’s job to make the franchise as relevant as it used to be on the new console:
It’s our job to make Gears as relevant on XB1 as it was on 360.
Asked if the game will be a cross generation title on both Xbox One and Xbox 360, he responded that he’s currently working on the business plan, and he’s not sure yet.
Personally, considering that the game isn’t likely to be released at the very least for a year (unless the folks at Black Tusk are superhuman, I guess), I’d rather see the new Gears of War fully empowered by the next generation, instead of being held back by the limited specs of the old. What about you?
