Uncharted PS4 Release Window Changed from 2014 to 2015 on Amazon, While Shopto Gives Crazy Date

When Amazon made the upcoming PS4 installment of the Uncharted series  available for pre-order this November (as reported back then by the Examiner), they used December 31st, 2014 as a placeholder date, indicating that the retailer expected the game to be released this year.

That expectation has apparently changed, as Amazon has now changed that date to December 31st, 2015. While it’s definitely too early for the game to have a firm release date, prompting retailers to use placeholders, often large ones like Amazon do communicate with publishers to set their release windows. Whatever the case, something might have prompted Amazon to correct its release expectation from this year to the next.

It’s also worth mentioning that Sony Computer Entertainment UK General Manager Fergal Gara listed inFAMOUS: Second Son, Driveclub and The Order: 1886 as the big titles coming from Sony this year during yesterday’s press conference in London, while he didn’t make any mention of Uncharted.

Of course we should still take this with a grain of salt, as no official announcement has been made by Sony on a possible release window (and we probably won’t see one for a long time).

As a funny side note, British retailer Shopto has set a tentative release date for the game’s preorder as well, and it’s a rather hilarious one: not only the retailer expects the game to ship on May 23rd, in less than four months, but they’re also guaranteeing delivery with a £5.00 compensation “if if for ANY reason you do not” receive the game by that date.

While I believe in miracles, and the folks at Naughty Dog are considered by many like gods of game development, I seriously doubt they’re going to be able to finish the game by May.

I didn’t know we were expecting a 2014 Uncharted? I thought it was 2015 all along.

Some are holding to hope. Personally I always thought it was 2015 as well.

Same. There were 4 years of development for TLOU (’09-’13), and, expecting they’d maintain that development cycle for their next games, I assumed that Uncharted 4 would also be given around the same interval (’11-’15); then, they would still be able to nail the one-game-per-two-years release cycle while also being able to work longer on each game and thus have more time to perfect and refine their final product.

        I think you’ve nailed it.
But now I’m thinking about how realistic Uncharted 4 could look and I’m salivating on the keyboard. Uncanny Valley here we come!

It would make tons of sense to release 2 blockbusters in the same year, it just isn’t going to happen. Not like they are the same developer, just the same publisher.

They have not proven anything on consoles yet. Really hope Sony have one other AAA game for the christmas holiday because they can’t only put it all on the Order 1886. That would be crazy and give MS an upperhand in the christmas sales.

  • Boerewors

Smart promotion by Shopto. It’s just like giving a £5 discount on pre orders, but this will make people feel like they’re outsmarting the company. They’ll get a shitload of preorders this way and gladly knock something off of the price.

Greatness awaits………………………….. and waits and waits. lol

This would have made more sense on a post related to The Last Guardian.

    • You are flat out wrong

Xbone no games until 2015. What a sad situation for the Microshiteaters.

Quality over quantity; that’s how they roll.

Looks like Halo 5 being pushed back to next year (lmao delaybox!!!) has given SCE some breathing room with UC4.

  • Anders

The game will release around E3 2015. Any other release date would surprise me.
