Take A Look At Survival Racing With Refract Studios’ New Distance Alpha Trailer

by on February 4, 2014 12:39 PM 3

It’s been a few months since we last heard from Refract Studios and their survival racing game, Distance, but now they’re back with a brand new Alpha trailer which shows off “Gameplay Experiments” which the former DigiPen students hope to incorporate in the final product of the game.

The trailer, which you can view below, shows off many of the things the developers are working on with Distance, the successor to their hit indie racing game, Nitronic Rush. While Nitronic Rush introduced the complex and reflex-heavy, high-speed mechanics and obstacle course-like tracks that Distance will be using, the developers have been toying with visuals synced to music, even more new obstacles, and teleportation portals that warp racers to another part of the track, with mere seconds for players to initiate their car’s short-term wings and fly back to safety. As the video also shows, they look like they’ve been hard at work at incorporating all of these ideas in adrenaline-pumping split-second decision races that will keep gamers on edge until they reach the finish line.

Distance is currently planned to release for PC, Mac and Linux platforms via Steam (and DRM-free), although no set release date has been announced besides “when it’s ready.”

For more information, you may want to check out the previous trailer and screenshots, or check out the Survive the Distance website, where you can also purchase the Distance beta.

    Looks like Tron meets Burnout.

Extremely good assessment. You can play the predecessor Nitronic Rush for free if you want to see how it is. But it’s only PC.
