At long last, since Square Enix won’t really provide western fans with what they need to play Final Fantasy Type-0 in a language they can understand, we’ll soon be able to enjoy the game in English thanks to the efforts of the folks at Sky’s RomHacking Nest.
This is definitely a good time for fan translations, since we’re getting this gem just a month after Valkyria Chronicles 3.
The fan translation of the game has finally entered the beta stage, and it’ll now be tested before release. Testing is required to make sure text actually makes perfect sense when played in the context of the game, and not just edited in the script files. That said, translation of menu, scripts and secondary text is 100% complete, and only a few bits during cutscenes is left. That part will be done during testing.
According to the fan translation group, it’ll be released soon, and it’ll have a quality that matches an official localization. They also released a fantastic trailer showing the fruit of their labors. You can check it out below and start uncorking that Champagne.
If you’re wondering how a PSP game looks so good and crisp in high resolution (use the HD option on the video), it’s because it’s fully compatible with the PPSSPP emulator, that renders games at whatever resolution you tell it to, effectively making 3D PSP games look like they are played on Vita or even better.
Final Fantasy Type-0 baby! In English! Need I say more?
