Final Fantasy Type-0 Fan Translation Enters Beta Testing; Fantastic Trailer Shared; Release Coming Soon

by on February 8, 2014 3:33 PM 20

At long last, since Square Enix won’t really provide western fans with what they need to play Final Fantasy Type-0 in a language they can understand, we’ll soon be able to enjoy the game in English thanks to the efforts of the folks at Sky’s RomHacking Nest.

This is definitely a good time for fan translations, since we’re getting this gem just a month after Valkyria Chronicles 3.

The fan translation of the game has finally entered the beta stage, and it’ll now be tested before release. Testing is required to make sure text actually makes perfect sense when played in the context of the game, and not just edited in the script files. That said, translation of menu, scripts and secondary text is 100% complete, and only a few bits during cutscenes is left. That part will be done during testing.

According to the fan translation group, it’ll be released soon, and it’ll have a quality that matches an official localization. They also released a fantastic trailer showing the fruit of their labors. You can check it out below and start uncorking that Champagne.

If you’re wondering how a PSP game looks so good and crisp in high resolution (use the HD option on the video), it’s because it’s fully compatible with the PPSSPP emulator, that renders games at whatever resolution you tell it to, effectively making 3D PSP games look like they are played on Vita or even better.

Final Fantasy Type-0 baby! In English! Need I say more?

They solved em now. It’s fantastic :D

I’ve played about 60 hours of the VC3 English version and the only errors I’ve found are misspellings, text going outside of text boxes and the dlc levels not being translated. But those are nitpicks. Awesome game it is. I thought VC3 was going to be the swan song for my original PSP… I guess we got one more adventure to go.

        thanks for the feedback!

how did you managed to patch the game??

        • David Navas

There’s a video on how to do it on you tube that got me through it when I got stuck as well. Also the patch only works on VC3 E2(extra edition).

            gotcha.

            thanks for the help though!

where is the Sky translation team phone number, i have a ton of games by Square Enix that will never be translated otherwise, lol this Lord of Apocolypse look insane plus this one is just the first release, it goes to lord of apocolypse 3 i think, if you guys are true translation patch lookers the Russians have a few sites that are patched like Frontier Gate Boost +, Toukiden : Age of Demons JPN + ENG patches here and there. But like i said briefly Sky’s team are occupied with the Final Fantasy Type-0 release, it is in the beta testing phase. Just request to have these titles translated by them hopefully they will ask for your help in translating paragraphs of text, hope google is useful ‘_’ Just my 2 cents..peace..

Excellent progress to Sky & his team on this project! I have to tip my hat because like all u guys here know it wouldn’t be possible without these guys and their hard work. Kinda wish I didn’t slack on my programming skills so much, as I rarely if ever use them, C++, COBOL, and Visual Basic were my playthings in grade school. Any ways if SKY’s ever reading the post here i have to say 1. Congratulations, 2. Keep it up, seriously…, & 3. Teach me how to contribute to the project… Also, if you guys have noticed the japanese make the best rpgs, absolutely worth learning the language but the kanji and chars make reading the language a pain and especially if you’ve only the basic translation skills… Other projects that i would love to be translated are Musou Orochi 2 Special & Toukiden: The Age of Demons, 2 beast of the RPG & Adventure type games… Thank Sky and his team as often as u like but if u can and are willing please help with his project in any way that u can.. Oh yea by keeping this non-profit this project will have no problems with S E on copyright terms.. Just my 2 cents fellas, help them but keep your donations extremely discreet if u can…

Release is delayed ? Does anybody know where and when it will be available ? I would love to play it even “as it is now” ;)

  • Sucka Free

I played the demo for this, seems like 100 years ago. Was pretty fun but not enough to get me to pay for an import like I did with Dissidia.
