Velocity 2X Runs at 1080p/60 FPS on PS4, 60 FPS on Vita “Buttery Smooth;” Will Have Cross Buy and Save

Velocity Ultra sequel Velocity 2X is is currently being developed for PS4 and PS vita, and FuturLab Managing Director James Marsden answered a few questions from the fans posted in the comments of a preview on the PlayStation Blog.

First of all Marsden gave some information on the resolution and frame rate we can expect on both platforms:

It would be suicide to release this game at anything less than 60fps natively on PS Vita and 60fps 1080p on PS4.

Talking about frame rate, he also mentioned how smooth the game will feel:

Velocity 2X doesn’t just retain the buttery smoothness, it’s significantly smoother. We’re using a totally new physics system so there’s no snagging on the terrain, the camera is smooth (jerky in VU), and we’ve improved the teleport cursor movement.

Marsden also clarified that while there are no plans for a PS3 release at the moment, the possibility isn’t excluded. We also learn that the game will have a much richer story than its predecessor, with dialogue between characters.

Even more interesting, is that Velocity 2X will support “Cross buy and cross save, two trophy sets that unlock with cross save sync,” and will also come with its own platinum trophy for the achievement hunters out there.

A release date and pricing haven’t been released yet, but it’ll cost “More than Velocity Ultra, that’s for sure.” Considering that Velocity Ultra costs only $7.49, that’s not too surprising.

You mean a game that is hd resolution 60fps (guessing 720p) on a 3 year old handheld is also hd resolution 60fps on ps4? Amazing….

In before the… oh, what the hell… “on teh Xbone it’d be 720pee/30fpz!!!1″

There, now no one else has to say it. But seriously, all these indie games should be 60 fps, it’s not like the systems are processing huge amounts of AI and graphics to pull off these smaller titles.
