Yakuza Ishin’s PS4 Release Wasn’t Initially Planned

by on February 22, 2014 5:48 AM 8

Yakuza Ishin seems to be one of the most popular PS4 games in Japan at the moment, but during the launch countdown event aired yesterday night Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama mentioned something fairly interesting.

Yokoyama-san explained that the game was initially not planned for the PS4, as Sega intended to release it as a PS3 exclusive. Then the publisher noticed that the timing for release matched that of the new console, so the development team decided to give it a go.

Considering that the number of Japanese developed games for Sony’s new console isn’t exactly enormous for now, I can’t say I’m not happy about that.

I am a bit nervious, neogaf is showing very empty stores, and not many people buying PS4, I really hope this sold.

They are showing “traditionally Nintendo” stores vs “traditionally Gaming” stores vs “gaming stores” vs “random stores”.

So yes, empty stores vs full stores vs mixed.

I too am nervous. Hopefully 400k in the first week at least.

I am counting on at least 500K given Japan has been waiting the longest for it.

Apparently they only shipped like 400k……

Really? Well I’m sure that all sold out by now, with their next shipment following suit.

They aren’t sold out if you go by pictures posted, there is stock.

It is selling better than Wii U at launch but far from a sell out.

true. Wii U wasn’t that far off actually but yeah PS4 is on a role.
